PTO Buzz
The Color Run was a great success! We raised over $17,000 to support the school! A big thanks to all the volunteers who helped make this happen. A second shout-out to Allie’s Sweets for the cupcake sales, and to our community sponsors. We are starting to look into some new playground equipment with these funds. More details to come as we look into the options.
Our Trunk-or-Treat is tonight, and we again thank all the parents offering their vehicle’s trunks and the sweets. We greatly appreciate Kenny Privett Productions for offering the DJ services. Hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween.
We have an Amazon Wish List for the teachers. Feel free to donate online:
A final thanks to everyone who ordered from Chipotle on Wednesday. We raised about $175.

Counselor Corner
Hello from your Elementary Counselor, Mrs. McKiddy! I have very much enjoyed our start to a great school year. I spent the month of September visiting classrooms for a social-emotional lesson centered around forming connections with peers and strengthening friendships. I have also increased visits with individual students needing social-emotional support. I am working hard to add some peer support groups by the end of the month! As the year progresses, I am continuing to connect with classroom teachers for referrals for students who are struggling or may need additional support. If you are noticing some behaviors that are interfering with your child’s success in the classroom, please feel free to complete my parent referral form and we can work together to determine if supports are needed here at school.
We also have our BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home! Please feel free to contact your counselor with any questions or concerns that you may have, and Mrs. Fox or Mrs. McKiddy will do their best to support your child.

The McKinney Vento Act
The Brighton Area Schools is part of a consortium to serve students in temporary living situations that provides financial support for educational needs, referral for housing, clothing and other needs, general support and technical assistance. To ensure compliance with federal law, all school staff must help identify student living in the following situations: emergency shelters/transitional housing, motels/hotels, car, parks or public spaces, shared housing due to a loss of housing or economic hardship, or living temporarily with non-parent or guardian.
The district’s homeless liaison is Starr Acromite and each building has trained staff members to assist in the endeavor. Our consortium contact at the Livingston Educational Service Agency is Candice Uyttendaele.
Please contact your building principal or Starr Acromite at 810-299-4040 for information/assistance.
