SHISD Mid-Week Message
Promoting Great Things in a Great School District
Congratulations on The completion of another successful year in Spring Hill ISD
"Teaching is the profession that makes all other professions possible."
As the class of 2015 completed their graduation ceremonies last Friday night, I was impressed and encouraged with the amount of success this group of young men and women have achieved during their time in SHISD. I was also excited to hear about their plans for the future. There is no doubt that these students will be successful in the future.
As the speakers took a walk down memory lane, they consistently referred back to the influence and inspiration they received from their teachers, year in and year out, in Spring Hill ISD.
As we bring the 2014-2015 year to a close, please take some time to reflect and take pride in the fact that you played a large role in the success of the class of 2015. Also take pride in the fact that all campuses and all organizations have experienced a great deal of success this year because of the work you do every day in Spring Hill ISD. You matter and the work you do matters.
Have a wonderful and relaxing summer.
From Debby Bass - Congratulations to the SHISD students who competed in the UIL Academic State Meet. Robin Kim placed 4th in number sense. Calculator team placed 3rd (Robin Kim, Nick Cerio, Daniel Vadasz, Ali Badar). Talia Schell also participated.
Kudos from Mrs. Drueckhammer - Last week the AP history classes had the opportunity to travel to the Dallas Holocaust Museum for a tour and survivor talk. Our survivor, Maggie, told her story of life in Germany before her escape, her journey on the kinder transport, and her life in Great Britain as the nation endured bombings and tried to "keep calm and carry on." It was truly an honor to hear her story. We are grateful to the museum for providing a grant to cover our admission, and especially to the PTA for providing a grant to cover our transportation costs. Thank you for allowing us to have this meaningful experience.
From Counselor Bowles - The junior class visited LeTourneau University today for the GLOBE Career Expo. Our kids received several compliments on their professional dress, excellent behavior, and overall appearance. It makes me very proud to be a part of such an exceptional group of young people. Thank you to Paige Childers, Amy McFatridge, and Terry Waldrep for helping supervise this event!
Kudos from Jump Rope For Heart - As your campus prepares to release for the summer, I would like to say thank you on behalf of the American Heart Association for supporting Coach Peurifoy and your students participation in the Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart Programs. Spring Hill Intermediate raised over $20,000 and ranked #3 in East Texas schools for Jump Rope-Hoops for Heart!!! The funds your campus raised this year for the American Heart Association help save countless lives in Longview and provide budget alleviating equipment for your campus. Coach Peurifoy and your staff play a major role in the success of this program by championing the mission of the American Heart Association. We couldn’t do what we do without your school’s continued support and the support of your community. By making smart and healthy choices today, we can shape the outcomes for tomorrow.
