OCS WEEKLY UPDATE
Week of May 29, 2023
Dear Families,
As we approach the month of June, I wanted to take a moment to remind you about the exciting events and activities happening at our school. It is crucial that you stay informed and involved so that your children can make the most of their educational journey.
Firstly, I am thrilled to announce that our 6th-grade students will be participating in the highly anticipated Schoodic Adventure Education program. Over the course of two nights, they will embark on an incredible learning experience, delving into topics such as forestry, geology, mapping, climate change, and much more. We wish them all the best as they broaden their knowledge and enjoy this enriching adventure.
I would also like to extend a well-deserved round of applause to the hardworking members of our houses who dedicated their time and efforts to clean up our playground and outdoor learning areas. Thanks to their commitment, our students can now enjoy a pristine environment that promotes both play and education. We commend their teamwork and appreciate their dedication to maintaining the area for learning.
In light of the season, I would like to draw your attention to an important matter concerning the safety of our students. With the arrival of warmer weather, it is essential to be mindful of tick exposure and the potential dangers associated with it. I strongly urge all parents to conduct regular tick checks on their children and to be aware of the signs and symptoms of tick-borne illnesses. Taking precautionary measures, such as wearing appropriate clothing and using insect repellents prior to school, can help reduce the risk of tick bites. If you have any concerns or require further information on tick prevention, please do not hesitate to reach out to our school nurse or visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website.
As always, your involvement and support are paramount to your child's success. Please stay connected with our school by regularly checking our website, newsletters, and social media platforms for updates on upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and other important announcements.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education. Together, we can continue to create a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters growth and learning.
