Night Lights Carnival
Just one of the great benefits of being a Waterstone Preschool family is having the opportunity to participate in our outreach projects and programs. When our teachers, students and families get involved in outreach, we impact our community. When we get into the rhythm of helping others we change the people we help (neighboring), the community we live in (restore), and our own hearts (transform). This aligns with the three rhythms of Neighboring, Restoration, and Transformation that Waterstone Community Church values. In the month of October we will have the opportunity to serve the children and families of Night Lights.
Night Lights is a respite care program for children with special needs and their families. As a parent, you know how rewarding and tiring parenting can be. Fortunately, many parents can call on a family member or babysitter to get some much deserved “time away” with their spouse, friends, or even go grocery shopping without children in tow. This isn’t always the case for families of children with special needs. Children with special needs require special care and cannot be entrusted to just anyone. Night Lights exists to provide families of children with special needs some much needed time of rest, relaxation, and relationship building. Once a month these families can leave all of their children with trained volunteers to be cared for at Night Lights. While parents are enjoying some R&R, the children enjoy a fun filled evening of activities and playing with friends.
On October 9th, 2015, from 6:30-8:00pm the preschool will be hosting a Fall Carnival for the children of Night Lights as an extension of the restore rhythm. This will be the fifth year that Waterstone Preschool has hosted this carnival, and we can’t wait to see how lives will be impacted again this year! This is not only a blessing for the Night Light children, but it is an awesome experience for the children and families of Waterstone Preschool as well. It provides a great platform for us to talk about people who are different from us, and to learn about different disabilities. You won’t want to miss this heartwarming evening of children with differing abilities playing together and having a good time. They all very quickly learn that their similarities are much more important than their differences.
Each preschool classroom will be choosing a game to prepare and play with children the night of the carnival. Ask your child’s teacher about the game chosen by their class. You can participate by volunteering your time the night of the carnival or by donating items needed for the carnival. Please see the sign-up sheets on the magnetic boards outside of your child’s classroom. We would appreciate it if all donations were in by October 1st. We are looking forward to this wonderful event!
To help us kick off this event the Chick-fil-A cow will be visiting the preschool on Monday, September 28th at pick up. The cow will be near the front doors so bring your child by to say hello or feel free to exit through a different door if needed. Bring your friends and family and join us at the Belleview and Wadsworth location between 5:00pm and 8:00pm. Mention Night Lights and they will receive 15% of your sale. If you cannot join us inside feel free to cruise through the drive-thru and take it home. Two years ago Night Lights supporters overwhelmed Chick-fil-A with our crowd. It was the highest grossing restaurant night ever which, in return, blessed Night Lights in a huge way. Let's do it again and break our own record. See you there!
