The Middle School Dance is Back! (6th, 7th & 8th CS Students)

The Middle School Dance is being held for all students in 6th, 7th & 8th Grade on March 4th from 5:30-7:30pm.


Tickets are $7 each if purchased in advance before school or at lunch. If purchased at the door on the night of, the tickets are $10 each.


Students must have a signed permission slip to purchase tickets and must be a CS student in order to attend.


There will be snacks for students to purchase at the dance!


*There are no refunds on the tickets*

Come join us as we travel by magic carpet to Agrabah to meet Aladdin and his friends on March 8th & March 10th at 5:30pm in the MPR. Tickets are $5 at the door.

CS is Partnering with the Phoenix Suns!

Canyon Springs STEM Academy is thrilled to announce the opportunity for Canyon Springs families to purchase Phoenix Suns tickets at a discounted price for a Phoenix Suns vs Toronto Raptors game at 7:00 PM on Friday, March 11th.


Canyon Springs will receive proceeds from each ticket sold, so we hope many of our Canyon Springs families will join us for a night of fun! Ticket prices vary by the seats selected. Specific ticket price information can be found at the purchase link.

APEX is Returning to CS in March!

Our Apex Fun Run event fundraiser and leadership program kicks off on March 23rd!


Apex is a local company that provides a fun 2-week program where students will learn about important leadership habits and good character traits. Then the program wraps up with a celebratory, high energy fitness event: The Apex Fun Run. It’s going to be a TON of FUN!


The funds raised from this event will go towards Outdoor Learning Spaces & CS Makerspace!


We’ll share more info about the Apex program and ways to support our

school over the coming weeks.

National Elementary Honor Society

The National Elementary Honor Society is recruiting students in grades 4 and 5 for membership in the 2022-2023 School Year. A candidate must have a grade point average of 3.0 and want to make a difference. The NEHS club is a service club and each student devotes 8 hours a semester to volunteer work while maintaining their 3.0 grade point average (no grade below C). The annual dues are $10. Each student also attends a brief 30 minute monthly meeting for NEHS. For more information please email Mrs. Richardson katherine.richardsonespiau@dvusd.org

AASA- Arizona's Academic Standards Assessment

We wanted to let you know that we will be having our state testing coming up! All 3rd-8th Grade students will participate in a Writing Section, 2 Parts of Reading, 2 Parts of Math, and a Writing Practice Test. Students in 5th & 8th Grade students will also participate in the Arizona Science Test as well. Third Grade students will participate in a new Oral Reading Fluency portion of the assessment as well this year.


Please see the calendar below for the testing dates. We kindly ask that you please add these dates to your calendar and avoid any conflicts with appointments, etc during these testing dates. We truly appreciate your help with this.

  • Teachers will participate in school-wide vertical teams to support one another through collaboration in ELA, STEM, Stakeholders, & Math. These teams help to create our school-wide goals as well as discuss progress towards these goals.


Friday, March 4th: Early Release @ 1:30pm

  • Teachers will collaborate and learn about various STEM and Gifted Strategies to utilize in the classroom.

Process for reporting for parent(s):

If a student tests positive for COVID-19 or has symptoms of COVID-19, or if a student has come into close contact (within 6 feet for 15 or more minutes over a 24 hour period) with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, the parent must, do the following:

  • Keep child at home.
  • If child tests positive and lives in the same household with siblings who attend DVUSD schools, then other siblings should stay home as well.
  • Complete the Student COVID-19 Information Form at https://url.dvusd.org/COVID19ReportingForm. (The form works best when using Chrome as your internet browser.)
