Trades Academy 2023
We have an opportunity for students who will be in year 12 in 2023 to become part of the MIT Te Pūkenga Trades Academy Programme. This programme runs for the full school year in term time only. We have spaces in the following course options:
- Full year Building
- Half year Building / Half year Electrical*
*Half Year Electrical comprises of a significant amount of theory work so a good understanding of maths and science is desirable.
If students have chosen 12 Trade Skills as an option for next year, they will need to contact their HOH to see if they can change to another subject.
Courses begin the week of 13th February and are held in the Tech Park Manukau facility. The school will provide transport in a taxi van both to and from MIT Te Pūkenga. The taxi will depart the college at 8:30am promptly and returns at the end of the teaching session at 3pm. If students catch a bus to/from school they will need to make alternative arrangements to be dropped off and picked up on their MIT Te Pūkenga days.
There is no cost to students to attend the Trades Academy course, they wear mufti and are provided with health and safety regulation clothing and footwear.
As students will miss one day of school per week it is important that they liaise with their teachers to ensure that they keep up with their classwork, assessments etc.
