Reading Night

Our Reading Specialist, Mrs. Personett will be hosting a reading night for Kindergarten parents. She is AMAZING!!! Come and hear ways to help you child with reading at home. You will leave with MANY ideas to help your kiddo at home!! Her fist reading night will be September 22 at 6:00 pm.

Assessment Page

You will notice in the front of your child's DOG book a Jolly Phonic assessment Page. When we finish a sound book I will check to see if they know the sounds we have worked on. You will need to sign the page to show you have looked at it. It will help you know which sounds you may want to review a little but more! PLEASE DO NOT CIRCLE ANY SOUNDS!!!! I will do that. This is a page for me to show YOU what they are showing me! :) Thank you for your help in learning our sounds.

Book Orders

Book Order came home on Friday. If you are interested in order books please have it turned in either to me or online by Tuesday September 27. Thank you!

Reader's Workshop

In reading we are working on reading with a partner. We begin with being able to read by ourselves next to our partner, then being able to turn and share something about our book with our partner.

Writer's Workshop

In Writing we have discovered we are all authors! We have been illustrating pictures and telling stories about them. We are also working on labeling our pictures and beginning to stretch our the sounds we hear to write a word or two to go with the picture we have made! We have done a great job writing!!

Math

In Math we continued with Topic 2-- Comparing and Ordering Numbers 0-5. We have been comparing groups of objects and deciding which has more and which has fewer. To go further we as "how many more?" and how many fewer?". Continue working on counting objects (making sure they touch and count each one, not skip around) and also reading and writing numbers 0-5!
