Early Childhood Trainings Offered This Fall
If You're Appy and You Know It...
8:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.
In this session, you will learn various ways to incorporate technology into literacy, workshop model, and all other content areas. You will have the opportunity to use digital tools for student engagement. Some of the tools include Seesaw, Chatterpix, AdobeSpark, DoInk, Telestory, Epic Books, and so much more! This will be a hands-on, interactive session. You will leave with tons of free resources and digital books to use in your classroom.
CIRCLE Preschool Foundations (Two-Day Training)
8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
The CIRCLE Preschool Foundations Training is an interactive, research-based introduction to the CIRCLE Manual activities. The two-day program provides preschool teachers of three- to five-year-old children with an overview of early language and literacy development in young children, based on the most recent scientific research. The sessions are interactive and provide fun, hands-on activities. Upon returning to classrooms, participants have a deeper understanding of early literacy development and a wealth of ideas for implementation. Components include: Best Practices, Language Development, Letter Knowledge, Phonological Awareness, Written Expression, Read Aloud, and Mathematics. Participants must attend both days to receive credit. The session fee covers the cost of the CIRCLE Teacher's Manual with all the workshop activities.
Creating Learning Environments for PreK, K, and PPCD Settings: EC-PBIS Tier 1
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
What's in this for you as a teacher? For you (the PreK, K, and PPCD teacher) it is: - 6 positive messages to build a classroom culture; - 5 elements to a well-managed class meeting; - 4 layers of teaching and learning; and - 2 days of engagement, strategies, and reflection. Why commit two days? Here is what veteran kindergarten teachers have said: "This training is phenomenal!" "This session has incredible energy and organization." "It uses developmentally appropriate practices to understand behaviors." The materials fee covers the cost of consumable materials distributed in the session.
Deepening Independence in Readers and Writers Workshop: Engaging and Purposeful Student-Centered Experiences
8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Are you concerned that your students are not participating in meaningful learning experiences while you are pulling small groups or conferring? Do you want to cut back on worksheets and provide your students with more engaging work while they are working independently? This session will include instructional ideas that will deepen independence in reading and writing. It will include student-centered experiences for independent work, partner work, and small group learning. Classroom routines, instruction, and assessment will be shared with classroom examples.
Texas School Ready Coaching Institute (3-Day Training)
8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
This three-day workshop uses the research-validated Texas School Ready Model to improve teacher and child outcomes. You will learn data-driven approaches to improve your coaching to maximize instructional impact. Lunch will be provided all three days.
What to Do When the Kids Just Don't Get It
8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
In this class, teachers will take a deep dive into guided reading. The focus will be on assessing comprehension, selecting texts that are meaningful to students, planning small group lessons that teach comprehension, and so much more. Attendees will leave with hands-on experience and practical ideas to improve their guided- reading lessons.
H.O.T.S. for Mathematics Grades K-2
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
What do I notice? What do I wonder? Which one doesn't belong? This session will dive into different language routines that will promote higher-order thinking skills and student collaboration as well as cultivate communication. These routines will also prompt students to reflect, analyze, and justify their reasoning about mathematical concepts.
