Gladiator Greatness
Central's Skills USA (pictured right) was visited by Winston Parker of Bioworld Merch who discussed his graphic design career which has included working with properties like Stranger Things, Studio Ghibli, Funimation, and Nickelodeon. Check out pictures on the Central's Facebook page.
Brionna Johnson, Central's amazing College Adviser, was presented the 2019 Peter and Laurie Grauer True North award. The award "recognizes advisers who demonstrate impact, grace, humility, leadership, and the ability to guide students and fellow advisers." Read more about Ms. Johnson and this prestigious award on the UGA Institute of Higher Education website.
Gladiator students and alumni participated in the Visions of Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration at the Lyndon Arts House on January 18th. Read about it in the Odyssey Newsmagazine.
Central's Ms. Ginger Lehmann was recognized as the CCSD Instructional Coach of the Month for January 2020.
CCHS musicians competed in the third annual Athens Battle of the Bands held at the 40 Watt on January 18th. Check out pictures from Odyssey Media Group.
Five CCHS students were invited to interview for the Governor's Honors Program this month. Congratulations to Ietta Veeder (World Languages - French), Ireland McCage (Communicative Arts), Kurali Grantham (Social Studies), Will Harden (Math), and Ludwig Lechtreck (Science).
The Gladiator girls basketball team had a photo gallery of their blow-out win against Walnut Grove featured on Online Athens.
The CCHS Robotics Team placed first in league competition and will be advancing to state. They also received the Best Design Award at a recent event!
English teacher Mr. David Ragsdale was selected to serve a second term as a member of the Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines committee for the National Council of Teachers of English.
Junior Sophie Caillault was chosen to perform in the GMEA 2020 All-State Orchestra, one of the most prestigious honors bestowed upon orchestra students.
Out of 11 teams, the CCHS girls swim team placed 2nd at the Tallulah Falls Meet last month. The boys placed 4th, and the combined team place was 3rd. The following students qualified for state: Lucy Yeomans, Gunnar Churchwell, Gretchen Hinger, Will Foggin, and Dmitri Palmer.
More swim team greatness! Out of 44 teams at the Clarke-Oconee Invitational, Clarke Central girls placed 8th, boys placed 14th, and overall, the team placed 9th. Way to go!!!
The Gladiator boys basketball team's win over Loganville was featured in the Athens Banner-Herald. Go Glads!!!

Save the Date for Parent Conferences on Feb. 19-21
Parent conferences will be held February 19th, 20th, and 21st. Students, parents, and advisers will meet to review student performance and make course requests for the 2020-21 school year.
