The Patrick Henry Post
April 21st, 2023
Congratulations, Upper Elementary!
Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have been hard at work the past two weeks completing our state standardized test, the MAP Assessment. Students were tested in English Language Arts, Math, and Science. Students worked so hard through this testing window, and we are proud of their efforts to show what they know. One of the greatest things we have seen this year is academic growth in every single child in our school, and we know that their growth will be reflected on this year's MAP scores.
Congratulations on finishing your MAP assessments and trying your best!
Girl Scouts only has one session left!
Last week, we had our second to last Girl Scout troop meeting with our faithful leader, Ms. Makalia Tibbs. Girls in Kindergarten-5th grade were able to meet Ms. Tibbs and plan their final meeting to close out their school year and celebrate some of the milestones they have crossed this year. Students also received free Cardinals tickets for their families as an added bonus! We love our connection to a female-led organization that empowers our young girls to grow into successful, independent women, and we thank Ms. Tibbs for a wonderful school year of fun!
P4s Preparing for Kindergarten
Our Preschool students have been hard at work this quarter getting ready for Kindergarten! Their reading and math skills are growing by leaps and bounds, and we are proud of what they have been able to accomplish this year. We know that they will be amazing Kindergarten students next year!
Thank you, Live! By Loews!
Ms. Versen and Ms. Jami's Adventures
First, second, and third graders from Ms. Versen and Ms. Jami's classes were invited to attend a field trip to our community partner, Live! By Loews Hotel in downtown St. Louis. Students were able to not only plant in the hotel gardens, but they also got to plant individual pots to take home with them as a souvenir. They also had a cooking demonstration and lesson from the head chef of the Live! By Loews Hotel cooking staff, and students learned about how to make healthy snacks at their own home on their own. Our time on the field trip was incredibly fun and informative!
Parent Resources Available for Summer
As we approach our last month of school, we are preparing our families and students for summer. This might mean giving students academic supplies they can use to keep their skills sharp over the summer, or it might mean giving families support with clothing, shoes, food resources, and hygiene kits. Please reach out to the school if your family needs anything specific over the summer to make sure your child is well cared for in the months away from school, and take a look below for the resources we already have in place.
The Little Bit Foundation
Our community partner, The Little Big Foundation, was here this week to begin assessing our end of year needs for our students and their families. The Little Bit Foundation provides assistance in the area of clothing, food, and home supplies. If you have a specific need for your child for the summer months like pants, shirts, under garments, shoes, belts, or hygiene kits, please reach out directly to
deborah.rogers@slps.org or call 314.231.7284 and ask to speak with Dr. Rogers.
The Parent Resource Room
We are scheduling our final walkthroughs of our Parent Resource Room to get all families equipped with food and hygiene items in preparation for the summer. Our Parent Resource Room has canned food, non-perishable food items, frozen food, shampoo, body wash, dental care kits, and much more for our families who need to prepare for the summer months. Please reach out to
deborah.rogers@slps.org or call 314.231.7284 and ask to speak with Dr. Rogers to schedule your time in the Parent Resource Room today!
The Patrick Henry Family Resource Fair
On Saturday, April 29th, the St. Louis alumni chapters of Delta Sigma Theta will host a "Trunks Up Extravaganza" behind Patrick Henry in our parking lot for our families. All families are invited to come and receive clothing, food, hygiene kits, home supplies, and even school supplies for summer learning activities. The Deltas will also provide a BBQ lunch, cotton candy, and snowcones to add to the fun! Please join us from 11:00am-1:00pm behind Patrick Henry in our parking lot!
