"Become the kind of leader that people follow voluntarily even if you had no title or position." ~Brian Tracy
When Clinton senior, Joseph Gogola, started his criminal justice program at OHM BOCES, he described himself as shy. However, when he heard of an opportunity to join Skills USA he took a chance. SkillsUSA is a national organization with the mission to empower its members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens. They improve the quality of our nation's future skilled workforce through the development of SkillsUSA Framework skills that include personal, workplace and technical skills grounded in academics.
When he learned that holding a chapter office could earn him a trip to conferences and competitions, he thought "let's see where this can take me." Fast forward to today, Joey is gregarious and flourishing as a student leader. This November he will attend the Fall Leadership Conference in Albany for the second time; however, it will be his first year leading the conference. Through his chapter and state-level roles as elected historian, Joey has been able to travel to Washington, D.C. and Georgia and is responsible for running 3 conferences and 1 kickoff event at the regional and state levels.
Joey reports that his involvement in SkillsUSA was a life-changing experience. When asked about his big takeaway, Joey encouraged his classmates to take all the opportunities they can even if they don't see the end goal. Joey reports that all of his travel experience, friends, and new opportunities through SkillsUSA came from his taking a chance and going out of his comfort zone. He advises his classmates to have confidence and remember that they can do anything they set their mind to. We are proud to call Joseph Gogola a Warrrior- thanks for representing us so well!

Positivity Project Character Strength of the Week: Teamwork
This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Teamwork. Teamwork means you work well as a member of a group or team. You are loyal, reliable, and dedicated to helping your team achieve its goals.
Teamwork is the ability and willingness to place overall group success as a higher priority than individual achievement. Those who demonstrate strengths in teamwork often work to help all group members find success. These individuals are willing to commit time and resources in order to further group goals and help toward the greater good.
For individuals, teamwork often means deferring or delaying individual accomplishments in order to ensure that the group maintains a high level of success. Their commitment to the larger group effort makes them good teammates. The positive feelings associated with being part of a larger whole -- can be highly beneficial and combat selfishness and egotism.
