Principal's Message
I hope that my message finds you well rested and in good spirits! Last week was another one for the books! It demonstrated our prowess to think quickly (flexible cognitive thinking!) and collective greatness for every child!
Last week we had an amazing learning week with Jonathan Aladanese on campus teaching us incredible techniques for reading. We can't wait for him to come back in December to see how much we have grown using Reading TCRWP 3-5th for the first time. In addition, we are looking forward to Jepi Mathis working with us in K-2nd TCRWP writing! She is set to come here on October 2nd.
With that being said, we have some new district trackers to take care of our reading. In our last staff meeting, I shared with you our newest reading levels expectations. You will be taking running records for each child monthly to access their reading level growth. Here is the official district running record trackers. Some of you have already scheduled your running record training with Gaby and Priscilla either this Thursday or next. They will go over the trackers, along with the presentation for training on these items. An overview will be given during vertical meetings this week as well. There are so many opportunities to learn!
In addition, I want to share that we have an assessment tracker for anything we or the district loads onto All in Learning Data Dashboard. I will be sending a separate email to K-2nd and 3-5th as they differ slightly. The tracker looks very similar to what we have done internally in the past.
Finally, with our district closure on Friday we have a few items that we still need to tie up.
- Math Common Assessments need to be uploaded into All in Learning no later than 3:00 p.m. on Monday.) If you need assistance, please reach out to your MCL.
- Ms. Krebs is most likely extending book fair into mid week to make up for the 2 days.
- For extended planning, we are picking up where we left off and making up an extended day by Thursday October 10th. Therefore, October 10th will not be a PLC day, instead it will be an extended planning day so we can be back on track.
- Our new Open House Day will be Thursday, October 3, 2019 from 4-6. Be prepared to stay on that day and we will have a slightly different agenda.
With love, respect, and admiration,
Rachel Martinez
