PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Stone Families,
I can't believe this is the last Friday in September. Happy Fall!
We are more than excited to have our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) plan in motion as of today! Check out the SMMS PBIS Student video at the following link: Go-4-SWAG. Our expectations will be based on Safety First, Work Hard, Act Responsibly, and Give Respect, or S.W.A.G. For example, students in the classroom will be expected to demonstrate Safety First by arriving on time, being ready to learn, personal electronics off and in backpack, and having an organized AVID binder. As the rollout continues, students will have the opportunity to earn Positive Behavior Referrals and rewards for demonstrating Stone S.W.A.G. We look forward to celebrating our students for their positive behaviors, actions and personal growth. Students can look forward to prizes for good behavior, As and Bs on their report card, growth in their reading and math progress monitoring testing and good attendance. If you are interested in supporting this program, please email Mrs. Harvey, Harvey.tiffany@brevardschools.org.
As always our staff is working hard to support student learning and continued growth. Our English, Math and Science departments spent time this week collaborating, looking at data, and planning for student success!
Thank you to all our community and parent support. If you are interested in supporting SMMS, please email me at lundy.courtney@brevardschools.org.
Sincerely,
Courtney Lundy

Federal Impact Forms
Impact Aid is a Federal education program that reimburses school districts for the lost revenue and additional costs associated with the presence of nontaxable Federal property. Because most public school districts are funded largely through local taxes and fees, and because Federal land is exempt from taxation, as are many of the businesses and facilities located on that land, districts containing Federal property are at a financial disadvantage in funding their schools.

Student Code of Conduct is Live
The Code of Student Conduct will be available for all students and parents online again this year. The Code of Student Conduct was board-approved on September 09, 2021. The link for the Code of Student Conduct is below and is currently live.
Discipline: New Social Media Trend
If you are not already aware of it, there is a current TikTok challenge calling getting a devious lick. The current trend of getting a devious lick involves stealing items from schools, both classrooms and the bathrooms. Over the past few days we have experienced and caught multiple students who have stolen items from teachers’ classrooms and also from the restrooms (soap dispensers, etc). Student take home and create a video in which they get likes and show off the items stolen from school. We need your help! Would you please discuss this trend with your students and monitor their social media and backpacks? Please report any stolen items to administration. It is essential that we are able to maintain soap, paper towels, and toilet paper in our restroom for our students, especially as we prioritize student safety during the COVID pandemic.

New Quarantine Guidelines-
The Florida Department of Health on Wednesday issued an emergency rule that gives parents more power to decide whether children go to school after being exposed to people who have COVID-19.
The new rule says schools “shall allow parents or legal guardians the authority to choose how their child receives education after having direct contact with an individual that is positive for COVID-19... so long as the student remains asymptomatic.” Parents also have the option of quarantining their students for up to seven days.
