Science
Students will be doing a culminating project describing 5 of the 7 Physical Properties of Matter categories:
Physical state
Mass
Magnetism
Solubility
Relative density
Conduct Thermal Energy
Conduct Electrical Energy
We can’t wait to see the finished product! Be looking for it to come home at the end of October
During the “Force, Motion, and Energy” units students learn that energy occurs in many forms and can be observed in cycles, patterns, and systems
Math
Math
In the month of October students will be finishing up decimal multiplication and moving to division.
Students will use a variety of division models to support their understanding of division by 2-digit divisors.
The students will also focus on analyzing information to help them shape their plan for solving a multi-step problem.
The Topic 3 test is Friday, October 7th.
Reading/Social Studies
We are so excited! Our colonization and Exploration Unit will begin this month. Students will learn why and how the English started settlements in Virigina. They will also trace the development of representative government.
The 50 States test will be on Wednesday, October 5th.
We have begun our second Unit, Investigations. This unit focuses on a wide variety of nonfiction texts. The students will read and write about how scientists learn about the natural world. We will also be studying singular, plural, possessive, common, and proper nouns.

Camp Meeting!!!
Please plan on attending our camp information meeting on Wednesday, October 26th at 5:00pm in the library. We will be giving you the paperwork and valuable information regarding our camping trip in early December. We are asking for at least one parent to be in attendance.
We will have a notary at our meeting in order to notarize the camp paperwork.
