Sound School
What We are Learning
Reading: We are currently focusing on fairy tales from diverse cultures.
RL.2.2 - Recount stories, including fables and folktales from diverse cultures, and determine their central message, lesson, or moral.
Writing: We are working on a folktale writing unit. Students using their knowledge of story elements found in fables and fairy tales to create their own story.
- CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.2.3
Write narratives in which they recount a well-elaborated event or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure.
Fundations: We will begin Unit 13 on Monday. We are focusing on double vowel syllable
- RF.2.3 Know and apply grade -level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding.
- RF.2.3. Decode words with common prefixes and suffixes.
- RF.2.3. Distinguish long and short vowels when reading regularly spelled one syllable words.
Math: We are focusing on composing arrays from rows and columns, and counting to find the total number of objects.
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.OA.C.4: Use addition to find the total number of objects arranged in rectangular arrays with up to 5 rows and up to 5 columns; write an equation to express the total as a sum of equal addends.
Science: We will continue Dr. Bob's Sound School next week. The kids are really enjoying the curriculum!

Social Studies: Students will learn about different cultures within our community.
