Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to remind you that the Math DA for K & 1st Grade will take place April 25 – May 6. I emailed you copies of the DA Blueprint for your review. If you have any questions or need assistance with anything please let me know. Thanks for all of your hard work!!
Message from Ms. Portugal, Reading Specialist
Kinder, 1st, 2nd Grade:
PAPI Retest Window Open 4/4-4/15
Writing DA 4/12-4/14 **More information coming soon! **
Kinder, 3rd, 4th, 5th Grade:
DRA Window Open 4/25-5/20
1st & 2nd Grade:
DRA Window Open 4/18-5/13
I ordered DRA Protocol sheets from Print Shop and have filled all of the files. If you notice a file getting low, please notify me, so I can put in another order ASAP. Don’t wait until it is completely empty, as there is a turn-around period. J
Here are a few tips & reminders when assessing using the DRA:
*Pace yourself….divide the number of school days for testing with the number of students you need to test & complete a certain number per day.
****Do not stop ELA instruction to test.
*Follow the FBISD Procedures Up/Down Chart.
*Record date and teacher name on the recording sheets.
*Record all oral reading responses, just as you do a running record.
*Record all student responses to questions.
*Underline the student responses for the lower levels.
*Make sure the Continuum page is completed entirely.
*Staple all tests together. If you need to assess a student on more than one level, place the level you stopped at on top.
*Fill in the score totals on the top lines underneath name/date on the first page.
*Use the WPM calculation formula to fill in the WPM.
Let me know if you need any help! Thanks!

IMPORTANT Message about Lab Printer- please read!
Please be mindful of the amount of documents being sent to the lab printer. There are large print jobs being printed and not being picked up. The toner is expensive and being replaced frequently. Class sets should be copied or printed to the workroom copier.
Please do not print a black and white document to the color printer which is QVE-LAB-P01 on distps03. Black and white copies should be printed to QVE-LAB-P02 on distps03.
Thank you for your help in maintaining our computer labJ

Last year, the district logged over 250,000 miles during this challenge. This year, our goal is to log at least 300,000 miles.
