What are they?
Pathologists are doctors who examine tissues of patients to determine their diagnosis and treatment. They work with many different groups, from other doctors to the FBI
Work Schedule and School
Most Pathologists work full time at a hospital or part time at a hospital and part time at another establishment they are needed at. (Morgue, Police Station, etc.)
8 years of school: 4 for prerequisite, 4 for medical
Salary and Outlook
150,000-180,000 a year with a very good future outlook, the career is growing.
Appearance
Most wear scrubs, many in the "field" have to also have a police badge.
Ethical Problems
1: Allowed to operate?
2: Deliver bad news?
3: Testify in court?
Skills
General People Skills: Many Pathologists will have to work with others, whether it is the patient, other doctors, or police officers.
Listening skills: Pathologist need to listen to patients to help narrow down the problem
Time Management Skills: For Pathologists who work at a hospital and at a police station it is very important to balance both jobs so it is very important to be well managed
