NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER
SEQUOYAH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
OUR VISION:
We will help ALL students reach their social, emotional, and academic potential.
OUR MISSION:
BELIEVE * ACHIEVE * SUCCEED
Greetings from Mrs. Gabriel!
Thunderbird Families,
We're almost to our first holiday break! Because we only have two days of school next week, I will not send a Thunderbird Press. I will take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful and relaxing break. No matter how you celebrate, I hope it brings you great joy and happiness. I am so very thankful to be a part of this Sequoyah community. The staff and students here are a joy to be around and I am proud to serve as their principal. Thank you ALL for making me feel so welcome in this first leg of the school year. It means more than you know.
We had some fun this week with our very first SUPER U Assembly! The students engaged in a "Double Dare" style assembly all while being reminded of how to demonstrate our Thunderbird Three (Safety, Respect, and Responsibility) both in school and out of school. The students had a lot of fun and were EXCELLENT audience members. Thank you PTO for new bringing this opportunity to our school!
In STEM+ specials this week, the students learned about robots and coding. It was awesome watching them work together to problem solve and watch their plan to come to life. Pictures of Super U and Robots below!
Don't forget about our Holiday Help efforts (flyer below) and PTO opportunities to help decorate the school for holidays and Santa Shop. They'll also host a "Story Time with Santa" and have put together a "Staff Favorites" tab on their website if you're looking for staff gift ideas! Make sure you stay updated on their website and Facebook page for the latest and greatest. https://sequoyahpto.weebly.com/
Last but not least- winter seems to be here to stay. Please remember to make sure students have proper playground gear for recess! We don't want to have students sitting in class with cold/wet clothes and socks all day or have to interrupt your day for a change of clothes. Pay close attention to the days your child has gym, too! Gym shoes are still required for participation in gym class.
Have a GREAT Thanksgiving!
Lots of Love,
Mrs. Gabriel
