PLC Schedule - Mark Your Calendar!

Mark your calendars for upcoming PLCs. Please let me know if you need to schedule for a different day due to training or field trips.

  • January 7th
  • January 14th
  • January 21st - Cowboy Tech with Kerissa
  • January 28th (no PLC - Literacy Library Open House)
  • Friday, January 29th and Monday, February 1st - RtI Meetings

Extended PLCs - 2nd Semester

Don't forget to schedule your team's extended PLC! Each team receives 1 full day (or you can take 2 - 1/2 days) to continue your PLC work for a longer, uninterrupted time. The sooner that they are scheduled, the easier it is to find subs, coordinate visits, and arrange coaches to come and help with the work!

Please let me know as soon as you have a couple of dates in mind and what you would like to work on so I can begin the planning process to make your extended PLC as beneficial as possible.

MOY Writing Assessments

Don't forget that the window for MOY Writing Assessments closes January 15th. Please let me know if you would like to get together and calibrate, look at writing ideas to move to the next level, etc. With a current assessment in hand, it's a great time to consider ways to move students forward in their writing. Bring a few samples and we can choose some needed skills to create mini lessons for your Writer's Workshop. Let me know if you'd like to get together to talk about writing! I'll even buy the Starbucks! ;)

Blue Writing Folders

As you are finishing you MOY Writing Assessments, don't forget to put a copy in each student's blue writing folder. If you need blue folders, please let me know and I will get you some. Remember that the only thing that needs to go into the blue folder is the BOY, MOY, and EOY writing samples. Please keep other work, conference notes, etc. in a different folder. Be sure the sample has the date and score on it!

Progress Monitoring for Tier 2 and 3 Students

Students who are identified by the RtI Committee as Tier 2 or 3 must be monitored throughout their intervention.

Tier 2 - Monitor progress every 2 weeks

Tier 3 - Monitor progress weekly

Many of you are using iStation to monitor. Since iStation has monthly monitoring, you will need to push out the iStation ISIP the other weeks that you need to monitor your students. (middle of the month for Tier 2 and each week for Tier 3)

Using the "On Demand" ISIP feature for iStation is very easy to do and can be done by any teacher that has access to that student's classroom on iStation.

Below are 3 screen shots to help you. Remember that you will want to push out the assessment and then have your students log-in to iStation. Once you push it out, it will be the first thing students see the next time they log-in.

Please let me know if you have any questions!
