Its once again a GREAT WEEK TO BE A DEMO!!!!! There are so many things to celebrate in our community, but none more important than BLACK HISTORY MONTH! We will have celebrations district-wide and at Jefferson, where we will uplift and celebrate the hard-work that our Black Ancestors have done for our community.

Join us in kicking off Black History Month with a student art showcase and performances at Paragon Arts Gallery.

Our Black Student Union is hosting the opening reception with food, performances and music on Friday, February 3rd 5-7pm

Student artwork will be on display February 3-11

Credit Recovery, Saturday School Sign Ups

Students who did not not complete coursework for semester one, but are near completion, will be invited to participate in Credit Recovery at Jefferson High School. Jefferson teachers will support students Saturdays in February and March to finish semester criteria. We will host Credit Recovery On Saturday, February 25th, March 4th, and March 11th from 9-12:00. Sign ups and information to follow.


Portland Evening Scholars, Spring Sign Up

Students, do you need credit recovery? A variety of credit recovery classes will be held in the evening from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, meeting once per week from February 21 through May 25. Registration opens on February 2, and classes fill up quickly, so see your counselor today to get signed up!


Classes will be held at the following schools: ● Franklin HS ● Grant HS ● Alliance HS (Kenton Campus) ● McDaniel HS ● Roosevelt HS

Jefferson Redesign: Design Advisory Group Application Deadline (TODAY)

Application process for the Jefferson Design Advisory Group closing soon!

PPS is looking for volunteers to join the Jefferson High School Design Advisory Group (DAG). The Jefferson High School Design Advisory Group will meet every 6 weeks for approximately six months and will include members representing students, teachers, alumni, industry professionals, parents, school programs, potential site partners, school administration and a school board representative.

Applications will close on February 3rd at the end of the day.

DAG members perform in an advisory role only. Decisions on project details are the responsibility of the Office of School Modernization in collaboration with other District leadership.

Head/Face Coverings

We continue to see students wearing inappropriate head/face covering while in school. This makes it hard to identify students in our school, which is a safety issue. Please make sure to go over the proper head/face attire with your student(s).


Students seen in violation will be asked to immediately remedy the situation or asked to leave for the day. Please review the following pictures below

Lacrosse Opportunity and Athletic Updates February 6-12th

Want to play lacrosse? All prospective players from McDaniel, Jefferson, Benson, and Roosevelt High Schools interested in playing lacrosse are invited to join Grant High School girls’ lacrosse. No experience necessary. Check out our website https://ggl.grantgirlslacrosse.org for all things lax!

General informational meeting is Feb. 7th at 6:00 at Grant High School: lower commons.

Middle College Updates


  • Textbooks for winter term are now available. Please check with Middle College coordinators for details. If your student has textbooks from previous terms, please return them to the Middle College office.

  • Students should be following their PCC schedule on flex days.

  • PCC Middle College Office is now open on Fridays, 9am-4pm

Tutoring at Jefferson

Tutoring started! Students should take advantage of these opportunities to meet with teachers and recieve help in core subjects.
