Dear PV East Parents and Guardians,

We are heading to Crunch 'Em Hall next month. Our students will be performing in 'Matilda' the Musical. This will be a great event for the whole family. Make plans to join us!

Next week is Counseling Week. We have a week filled with fun activities. Please encourage your student to participate.
We will be conducting another Safety Week next week. We will review and practice each of our safety drills; Hold, Secure, Lock Down, Evacuation, and Shelter. We select one safety drill to practice each day of the week.
We are partnering with two great organizations, Laurel House and Victim Services, in Montgomery County to support our 7th & 8th Graders. Laurel House will be coming to East in late February to share a couple lessons with our 8th grade students called "Shifting Spaces: Preventing Sexual & Domestic Violence in Schools" and Victim Services will also be coming to East in April to share a couple lessons with our 7th grade students called "Better Boundaries".
Laurel House & Victim Services are offering a Virtual Parent Information Night from 7-8PM on February 16th via Zoom. Parents may opt out their child from these programs by emailing me directly at sclune@pvsd.org

In addition to registering, student-athletes must have a PIAA physical examination done by a doctor and the proper paperwork completed by the doctor. In order to count for the 2023 school year, the physical must occur June 1, 2022 or later. The form is found on www.planeths.com when you register.
If the spring sports season is your second or third sport season this school year: Complete section 8 Spring Recertification at http://www.planeths.com by February 21. The Spring Recertification form will populate in your profile after February 1. If there has been a change to your health history or an injury since completing your last physical, an additional section 9 form is required as well. This does require a clearance from a doctor.

Parent/Pickup and Dropoff
Just reminding all parents that students being dropped off at school in the morning need to stay in line and pull up to the curb near the gym/auditorium to unload their children.
If you are picking up your child at the end of the day, you should get into the carline behind the school bus loading area and follow the directives when the line moves closer to the building.
It is very important that we follow these procedures in order to keep everyone safe.

Message from the School Nurse
How Sick is Too Sick for School?
The student must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of medications (i.e. Tylenol or Advil), and 24 hours without vomiting or diarrhea before returning to school.
For specific identified infectious diseases, students will be excluded from school according to the Office of Public Health guidelines.
Students are not permitted to carry any medications in school. All medication, including over the counter medications, must have a physician order and be brought to the nurse’s office by a parent or guardian.
If your student becomes ill at school they must report to the nurse. Safety dictates that students not go to the bathroom to deal with an illness on their own.
A parent/guardian or emergency contact will be called by the nurse if the nurse determines the student is too ill to remain in school, has a temperature of 100.0 degrees or more, has vomited or has diarrhea.
It is recommended that a parent or designee pick up a sick or ill student within an hour of being notified by the nurse.
Covering coughs/sneezes and proper handwashing will help prevent the spread of illnesses.
National Suicide Prevention Hotline
988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), and is now active across the United States.
When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary. Please see below for more information.
The previous Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis.
