CONFERENCE ON DISPROPORTIONALITY
An Open Discussion
DISPROPORTIONATE means 'out of balance or unequal'.
We must have a level of understanding about each other in order to facilitate collaboration and cooperation. Our upcoming virtual Conference on Disproportionality will target issues where racial, ethnic and social discrepancies exist in the identification, placement, and discipline of students with disabilities.
Join Family Network on Disabilities and Uplifting Black Families at FND for a Wednesday afternoon information session on disproportionality. All sessions will be broadcast LIVE on the Family Network on Disabilities Facebook page each month through September, starting June 8, 2022.

Yveline Alexandre, Founder, Autism509
Her daughter's diagnosis, the therapies, the school system, and the perception of “handicap” in the Haitian culture prompted Yveline to change careers to become an ABA therapist. She is the presenter of “En nou pale de autisme”( Let’s talk about Autism), a weekly program broadcasted every Monday on Radio Cosmopolite, a broadcasting station based in Atlanta, Georgia. She collaborates with various organizations in Florida, Georgia, New York, Boston and Haiti to raise awareness and educate the community on Autism and its comorbidities.
She has participated in several conferences on autism in several states, and more particularly in the last 8 years at the United Nations where she has met other autism advocates from other countries in the world with whom she has obviously spoken about a global awareness and support for the black autistic community and the non-existence of services and resources in some countries like Haiti. President of the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) on several occasions at the schools where her daughter attended, and "Parent Coordinator" Yveline also leads training workshops in the churches, community events, and some of Haiti’s remote areas where there are no resources and services. In 2018 in collaboration with Family Network on Disability (FND) she presented the first annual autism awareness conference in Miami.
