Summer Slice Vol. IV
LA Staff News
People Know They Matter When...
One of the most important things we can do for our kids is to let them know they matter.
When they arrive...
When they are absent...
When they are distant...
When they are angry...
When they are in trouble...
When they are doing their best...
By ALL STAFF taking a restorative approach when addressing "wrongs" at LA, we will have a greater, positive impact on their lives.
What if we had the ability to easily (no additional work) share "strikes" with parents and students as a communication tool?
What if we found a way to ALSO recognize the positive behaviors our students exhibit, and "the good stuff" was ALSO communicated with the student and parents (no additional work)?
What if we "weighted" our "strikes" so that overhearing the f word in a student's conversation is not the same as telling someone to F off when they are angry?
What if when our kids met our predetermined threshold (ex. 3 strikes) for "something needs to happen", there was an automatic way of alerting a staff member that an intervention was needed?
What if our "interventions" were not limited to putting kids in ISS and sending them home?
What if our "charts" were able to manipulate the data (no additional work) to PROVE to us our impact on students?
What if "all of this" wasn't one more thing but actually took less time for us so that we can spend time doing the right things at LA?
If that gets you excited, you need to send me a random emoji so I know you're excited, too!
Pssst....and, if you want to learn more about restorative practices, let me know and I'll send you some info!
