Dear Parents and Guardians

It is hard to believe that the end of the school year is approaching so quickly! The students have only three weeks of school left before summer holidays begin and yet, there is still so much to do! Teachers are working conscientiously, as always, to enable students to achieve their individual learning goals, as well as gathering final assessment data in readiness for the end of year formal report.

Thank you to parents and staff who attended the Annual Community Meeting last Tuesday evening. I will be formally announcing all staffing in next week's newsletter. I wish to thank Lucie McCrory, Council Chairperson and Adrian Firth who will be finishing their time with us on the School Advisory Council. I wish also to thank Kathryn Peake as she has finished her term as P&F President.

The Season of Advent

This Sunday, 20 November marks the end of the church calendar year with the Feast of Christ the King. The year, which begins with Advent 2021 and ends at Advent 2022 is Year C. Thank you God for sending Jesus to be our saviour and our friend. Thank you also that he is a King. Help us always to follow him, honour him, and serve him in his Kingdom. Thank you God that we are “kids of the kingdom.” In Jesus' Name, Amen

Christ the King Sunday celebrates the full authority of Christ as King and Lord of the universe. Officially called "The Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King," it is celebrated on the final Sunday of Ordinary Time, the Sunday before Advent.

The liturgical vestments for the day are coloured white or gold, in keeping with other joyous feasts honouring Christ.

Pupil Free Day Tomorrow

A reminder that tomorrow is a Pupil Free Day where staff will be learning a deeper meaning of our school’s Charism, the Mercy Sisters and how this links to St Luke’s.

God Moments

Seeing Lulu work her magic by cheering up and making the children, staff and parents smile as everyone is feeling a little tired at the moment.

Sport Update!

Yesterday St Luke's participated in a baseball Tournament in Thornlie where they showed outstanding skills, fielding, throwing, catching and teamwork. The boys had three great coaches and have done well against very good teams. We came out with a win! Congratulations to all involved!

Tomorrow, Friday the 19th we will be participating in the School Triathlon. We will meet there between 8.30 - 9.00. You are welcome to drop your bikes off earlier. Please click here for the information booklet about the Triathalon. Good luck!

Parenting Ideas Article- Anxious Kids

Do you find it hard to focus on the present?

There’s always so much to do and plan for as parents. It’s no wonder our minds wander so much. But to think that we spend nearly half of our lives thinking about things other than what we are doing means there’s an awful lot we’re missing out on.

When we’re fully engaged with what’s happening , there’s so much to experience. Bringing our thoughts back to the present moment can be like landing them on a calm, quiet, relaxed island in the midst of stormy seas.

When our minds wander to troubling thoughts, we end up experiencing pain and suffering at times when we’re often warm and dry, fed and watered, safe and secure. Like when we’re in bed. Snug and relaxed in our comfy beds, our doona keeping us warm (or a sheet to keep us cool), with a lovely soft place to lay our heads. Could we be more content in that moment? If only our minds would stay with us!

It’s the same with our kids. It’s often at the end of the day when they’re no longer engaged in activities that they begin to think and worry.

School Banking

As you may know, the Commonwealth Bank will no longer be continuing the School Banking program nationally. The last day for school banking at St Luke’s will be Thursday 2nd December. As a gesture of good will, the Commonwealth Bank will be allowing all active bankers to order a prize, regardless of the number of tokens collected. Rewards must be selected and ordered on or before Thursday 18th November. Bankers can choose from the options below and place their order at a school banking session on Thursday 18th November. Alternatively, orders can be placed via email to Amelia at

Many thanks to the wonderful helpers Linda Kallis and Tammy Green for volunteering their time and efforts. Thank you also to all the bankers for their cheerful smiles on Thursday mornings! I hope their savings continue well into the future. Please read the information from the Commonwealth Bank below for more information.

Many thanks,

Amelia Gunner

School Banking update from Commonwealth Bank

For 90 years, our School Banking program has helped children learn about money, reinforced the importance of regular savings and provided structure for parents to support their children to save.

Though the program continues to have strong support from schools, parents and teachers, recent decisions by some state and territory governments because of a review by the corporate regulator mean we are unable to continue providing programs in schools, and we have had to make a difficult decision to close our School Banking program for all government and non-government schools across the country.

Our School Banking program was established in 1931 at a time when having a bank account was not commonplace, and since then we have helped more than 15 million Australians take their first financial steps. This would not have been possible without the wonderful support we have received from schools like yours, including all the parents and volunteers, and for this we are deeply grateful. Thank you.

School Banking has taught so many young Australians, past and present, the value of money and we believe this should be celebrated. We have created a place for you to share your stories, fondest memories and lessons learnt through the program. To share your story and access our financial education resources, please visit

Even though the CommBank School Banking program will not be returning to your school after this year, you can continue to make deposits into your child’s Youthsaver account through online transfers or at any CommBank branch. If you need further information please phone 132 221 or visit your local CommBank branch.

A special word from Kathryn Peake (P&F President 2019-2021)

Last night at our AGM we said thank you to Claud Mottolini, Megan Proud, and Alana Metaxas, for their contributions to the P&F whilst serving on the committee.

In addition to this, as per our constitution, I also stepped down as President after completing the full 3-year term and will be stepping off the committee.

I would like to personally thank you all for your continuous support during my time as President. As I said last night, I was very nervous to take on the role but it ended up being the best leap of faith I have taken. The relationships that I have built with many of our families outside my children's year groups have been my highlight, as well as implementing positive changes within our school community.

Finally, I would like to introduce to you our 2022 P & F Committee

President - Kathryn McMullen

Vice President - Jaime Marshall

Secretary – Claire Fowler

Treasurer - Katrina Eagles

Board Rep - Suzanne Vinton

General Committee Members - Brooke Tonkin and Michelle Spies

Thank you parents for stepping up into these roles and I encourage all our families to help support this amazing team next year.

Kathryn Peake

P&F President

Dads' Lawn Bowls

Tonnes of fun was held over the weekend at different events for our school family. Friday night saw 20+ dads come together to discover the fine art of lawn bowls.

Thank you to those that attended and for welcoming some of the newer dads at the school. Check out the great photos from their night at Wanneroo Sports and Social Club.
