Message From the Principal
Happy Friday Titans!
It was a great first week! It was fantastic to have all our students and teachers back in the building. Our 8th-grade WEB leaders helped our 6th-grade students get settled, schedules were corrected, and we smiled as we sailed through the week!
Transportation ran smoothly considering it was the first week. The 8th-grade FASTPASS lane is up and running, and it helps alleviate the traffic on Elkins Road at dismissal. Bus riders, please hang in there with us during the first and second weeks as the elementary schools take extra care to get their babies on the buses. Because the middle school buses are the last in the queue, when the elementary buses run late, it slows their arrival to Elkins Pointe. Bus transportation will improve every day!
On August 13th, two significant forms were sent home with your child: 1) the School-Family Compact, and 2) the Device User Agreement. These forms require the attention of parents; please read over both of these documents with your child. Both papers will require a signature from a parent/guardian and the student. Preparation for device rollout for the 1-to-1 Dell Latitude laptops will begin next week. Devices will be rolled out on Friday, August 17th. Device User Agreement forms will be issued on Monday, August 13th. Please make sure to read the permission slips, sign them, and send them back in with your student. The permission slips and the compacts will travel to and fro in your child's binder. Please have your child place the signed Device User Agreement and the School-Family Compact in their binder. They will be collected on Thursday, August 16th, and then reviewed/signed by the WINN teacher.
Parents, we could use your help next week. The PTSA is helping our guidance counselors prepare back-to-school packets. The Media Center will be getting ready all week for the device deployment on Friday, August 17th. "Many hands make light work," and we would appreciate our Titan parents, especially the Dads Club, to help with the heavy lifting!
Thank you for helping to make our first week a reason to smile! I am looking forward to a great year of learning!
Sincerely,
Kindra L. Smith, Ed.S
