100th Day of School
Practice Academy: A letter from our Specials Team!
As we begin 2020 and the second semester, the Specials Team is reviving a successful program from Peak’s past called, PRACTICE ACADEMY (P.A.) The mission of Practice Academy is to instill and master the life skills and culture of Uplift Peak. These skills are imperative to being successful students, and citizens. During Practice Academy, the specials teachers will practice with the scholars who have NOT YET mastered these skills.
Examples of skills and procedures include: Listening skills, raising hands to speak without interrupting teacher or fellow scholars, safely and silently walking up and down the stairs, walking in straight and quiet lines down the hall, following directions, answering and asking questions, as well as displaying respectful behavior to themselves and others. Practice Academy provides restorative education with a focused one on one approach. With Practice Academy, we are able to truly target what the scholars are struggling with and need to do to succeed.
Practice Academy will take place once a week on Wednesdays during the scholars’ specials time. As part of the practice, scholars will write a quick letter that shares with parents what they’re working on. The note should be signed and returned to one of the specials teachers. If it is not, they will need to practice again, the next Wednesday. This will be done during specials time so that they will not be asked to stay after school and they will not miss any classroom time. This is not a punishment – it’s an opportunity for growth. We are explaining to scholars that they have “not yet, mastered the skills we expect at Uplift Peak, but we’re here to help them get there, if everyone has a grit and a growth mindset”.
Thanks!

Teachers get awards too!
Constant Reminders
Parents Morning and Dismissal drop off/pick-up
- Parents if you pull up at 7:55 please get out and sign your scholars in. Please don't just send them in it holds up their time to go to class as we then have to sign them in. If you sign them in they can go inside.
- At dismissal please DO NOT attempt to stand by front doors this space must be with staff and scholars only. We want to ensure no one walks off with one of our scholars.
Pick-Up
- Scholars must be picked up by 4:00. School gets out at 3:30. On Wednesdays its 1:50 and scholars need to be picked up at 2:20. We are very accommodating and even allow for grace times. However, we have scholars who are being left until after 5:00. This is unacceptable. Our faculty and staff are people as well and have families and children in other places to get to as well.
- Most importantly it is neglect for scholars to be left that long after school. It's unfair to your scholar, they have had a long day and don't like being left behind. Please know that moving forward we will be contacting authorities for the consistency of this behavior and it will effect next year enrollment acceptance.
- Advantage pick-up starts 4:00 Late is 4:15 on Wednesdays it at starts at 2:30 late pick-up fees begins at 2:45
