NO SCHOOL MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH
MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL LAMBERT
Dear Mariano Castro Parents,
Back to School Night is tomorrow! Thursday, Aug. 31st from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. please join your child's teacher in the classroom. This is a very important night and your children appreciate it very much when you attend events at school. You will meet the teacher, learn about this year's routine and classroom events, and have the opportunity to ask questions. There will be Spanish interpretation available. Please remember to sign in at the classroom and pick up the information papers that will be in each classroom.
Each teacher will hold two presentations, one at 6:00 p.m. and one at 6:30 p.m. to accommodate families who have more than one child. We expect 100% of families to attend this important event. Thank you in advance for supporting your child and the school!
Best Regards,
Theresa Lambert

PTA NEWS
The PTA has decided to search for a Walk-a-thon Chairperson, instead of Event Coordinator. The duties are smaller and it is for one event only, not all school year. The PTA and the WAT committees will assist this person to carry out the duties. There is an outline of tasks and ideas from past years, and the Walk-a-thon (WAT) committee volunteers will help you with the work. The WAT this year will be held on October 6th at the school. Please consider being a role model for your children and leading others by volunteering today. All languages and skill levels are invited to help. Parent support is the way to make a great school event! Please contact Fernanda Brant (650) 669-2280 in Spanish, or Trudy Wilson trudyj92@gmail.com (650) 968-2242 in English, to learn more.
Class Posting Donations
Many of you were able to make your donations at the Class Posting event held on 8/10 at the school. If you were not able to make a donation at the event, there are green forms in the office to help you complete this part of getting back to school. We do ask that each student have their school shirt paid for and any other donation that will fit your budget. Cash is accepted or checks payable to: Castro PTA. Please complete your donations by the end of September.
Potlucks by Grade
This year the Mariano Castro PTA will hold a “Potluck Dinner” to introduce your child’s Teacher, Principal and School PTA. The Kinder and 1st grade families just had their dinner on Monday 8/26. It was enjoyed by all who attended. Next the 2nd and 3rd grade families will gather on Wednesday 9/13 for their dinner, and the 4th and 5th grade families will meet on Wednesday 9/27. The variety of foods are always enjoyable and a great way to network with other families and make new friends. Please join us for the fun!
Spirit Wear Sales
The Spirit Wear committee is ready to start having sales! Please watch the Dolphin Whistle Newsletter to learn where and when you will be able to purchase your Castro items each month. The morning sales (before school) will be on the blacktop, where the students line up. The afternoon sales (at student pick up) will be held in front of the school office. Currently, we have hoodies and zip-down sweatshirts in Youth and Adult sizes. We also offer Adult t-shirts in a variety of colors at great prices.
The committee is planning to add some new items this school year. Also, we are looking for new volunteers. If you have ideas for new Spirit Wear products, or you would like to volunteer, please contact the office.
