WVS: Quick Three Plus One
Counselor's Week, Visit Us, LEG/Student Drop Ins, End Dates
Thank YOU School Counselors!
We would like to take this opportunity to celebrate with and honor YOU during the School Counselor’s week of February 1-5 and all year long. We recognize the support and care you provide for your students both onsite and online for Wisconsin Virtual School. Many of you are the Local Education Guides (LEGS), mentors, or coaches for the partners in the Wisconsin Digital Learning Collaborative (WDLC). We tell you that we can’t provide a quality experience without your local support and we truly mean it! You are critical to the student’s academic, social, emotional, and career planning successes. Thank YOU!
Visit WVS at the Wisconsin School Counselor’s Conference
Visit us at the 2016 Wisconsin School Counselor’s Conference. We will be at Booth 77. Don’t miss our session on Wednesday, February 17th (Sectional 45), 3:15-4:15 in Meeting Room K. Director, Michele Nickels will be facilitating Navigating the Digital Landscape: Providing Options and Support for Students.
Hear from a panel of your colleagues on how they are using the pathways provided through the Wisconsin Digital Learning Collaborative (WDLC) to provide online, blended and personal digital options for their students. In addition, they will share their strategies for student support in navigating the digital landscape for both credit recovery and original credit courses.
Upcoming LEG Talk and Student Drop In Sessions

If you are not able to join us live, but have items you want to share, discuss or collaborate on please send those to us to at: mnickels@cesa9.org. We look forward to the conversation.
Student Drop Ins: Your students may have questions as they start the second semester of their online courses; or are just curious to meet others across the state taking online courses. We have set up two optional drop in sessions to facilitate this:
· Thursday, February 4th, 2016 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
· Thursday, February 11th, 2015 from 3:00-4:00 p.m.

Students should check their courses' Welcome Folder for their teacher’s connect time hours. These hours are for questions students may have and to meet their course specific classmates. Please remind your students to use the free tutor access within most courses for additional “just in time” support.
Check the Course End Date for Graduating Seniors
LEGs, coaches, or mentors - please check the end dates for second semester to ensure you have left sufficient time for teacher grading and receipt of final grade reports (last day of school, graduation ceremonies, college transcripts, NCAA eligibility, etc.). We highly recommend a best practice of an end date of TWO weeks prior to the absolute “need” date. If you need to change the end date, follow these directions: http://www.screencast.com/t/eFGA58znrBQ.
