Big DAWG/Little DAWG DAY!
As we looked at the calendar of events when planning our activities, we discovered that every day from Monday-Saturday of this week had evenings filled with basketball. Using that as our inspiration, we set out to create a week emphasizing the connection of Christ to sports, specifically basketball. Quickly we discovered that we weren't the first ones to think of this. To find out who the first person was to move successfully on this idea, read the link below:
How a Christian Invented Basketball and Made it an Evangelization Tool
" He could better exemplify the Christian life through sports than in the pulpit” and sought to “develop the whole person—mind, body and spirit” in the gym. As a result, he held basketball players to a high standard and wanted them to be virtuous."
And Pope Francis has tweeted on this connection . . .
“It is important that sports remain a game!” the pope said.
“Only by remaining a game will it do good for the body and spirit.”

Today, all of our students, staff, coaches and some alumni are joining together to celebrate 'Holy Hoops'. We will see in our teachings, in our actions, in our choices and in our life that CSW is a time to celebrate our efforts and focus on what Catholic Schools--and the games we play--provide each of us.
'The spirit, the will to win, and the will to excel are the things that endure. These qualities are so much more important than the events that occur.' --Vince Lombardi
