Mrs. Dina's Kindergarten

Busy, Busy Week

Dear Parents,

It was a very busy and exciting week in kindergarten! We started off the week with a special visit from the Elmhurst Fire Department. We had the wonderful opportunity to visit the fire trailer. It is designed to look like a house in the inside. We first went into the kitchen and the fire men discussed fire safety. We then went into the bedroom, which filled up with fake smoke, and each child had to climb out the window. What a valuable lesson for your children! We thank the Elmhurst Fire Department for taking time out of their busy schedules to visit our school.

Shapes are Everywhere!

We had so many hands on learning opportunities this week learning about shapes! Your children made their own shapes exploring with pattern blocks. We even made shapes with our bodies!

Your children have learned so much this past week about apples. We have used apples to explore all areas of our curriculum. We read many books, wrote in our journals, compared apples, described apples, counted apples, graphed apples, and even made apple sauce.
