What a beautiful day it was for Spirit of America Day. Thank you to all of parent volunteers who helped with the day. It would not have been successful without the volunteers. Thank you to all of the staff at Bedminster Elementary for helping with everything from start to finish.

Outdoor Volleyball

The long awaited outdoor volleyball net for the students to use during recess is finally up. The volleyball equipment was purchased last year as a gift from the 2015 5th grade class.

4th Graders Skype with a Hurricane Specialist

Our fourth graders have been reading about the effects of nature on our lives. They read a story about a storm chaser who photographed the destruction of Hurricane Andrew both during and after the storm. After reading the story, the classes had many discussions about hurricanes, especially Hurricane Sandy.

As a special treat, the classes had a Skype session with Dr. Michael Brennan of the National Hurricane Center in Miami. (He happens to be Mrs. May’s cousin.) The students were able to talk with a real hurricane specialist from the comfort of their classroom. What a wonderful 21st century learning experience!

Kristen Yoder is another one of our extraordinary Bedminster Elementary volunteers. Her positive energy and spirit is apparent in everything she does for our school. Bedminster Elementary thrives because of the valuable involvement of parent volunteers such as Kristen. Thank you so much for everything you have done and continue to do Kristen!
From Kristen:
I have been a Bedminster Elementary School parent for the past 10 years. I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone by and that this is my last year at Bedminster. In 2005, I started to get involved by attending the monthly PTG meetings. I wanted to be more informed about what was occurring in the school. As I attended these meetings, I began to see opportunities where I could use my time, my skill-set, and my educational background to partner with the Bedminster staff in my childrens’ education. I love kids, and I love education! Volunteering has given me the chance to foster that love. I really enjoyed being able to spend time helping the students, getting to know my kids’ friends, working with the Bedminster staff, and working with other parents to make Bedminster a community where all the children had wonderful experiences to learn and grow. Over the years I have been a homeroom mom, a tutor, a lunch duty mom, a member of the PTG Executive Board, a chair-person of several committees such as the Holiday Shop, the Fifth Grade Farewell, and the Race for Education. It has been rewarding to know that I have played a small part in helping so many children have a positive elementary school experience. However, the relationships that I developed over the years as a result of being active in the PTG have been the most meaningful aspect of volunteering!

Lost & Found

Bedminster’s Lost & Found area is overflowing with items that have been left behind and want to come home. Please have your child check the area for any items that they may have lost throughout the school year, or check out the PTG's Facebook page ( for pictures of items you may recognize. If you see something that belongs to your child, please have them pick up their lost items from the "Lost & Found" area on or near the coat rack in the gym lobby. It would be super helpful if you could notify us either on our Facebook page or at, that you have picked something up, so we can delete it from our Lost & Found photo album. Thank you!

Bedminster Elementary loves their Teachers and Staff!

We celebrated them with an entire week of Picnic Themed Celebrations in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week! The idea began with the Picnic Themed Luncheon hosted by the Hospitality Committee. From there the idea grew to include a "Good Morning Sunshine Breakfast” to start the week off right, and included things like a “Teddy Bear Picnic” afternoon snack one day, and a “I’m Kind of a Big Deal” day another, where teachers and staff proudly wore medals exclaiming that “Bedminster Students Think I’m Kind of a Big Deal” and got to read why students think Bedminster and it’s staff is just that on a poster! To finish out the week our teachers received a sweet potted plant stating “Thank you for helping me Bloom.” Our PTGBedminster gmail account and our mailbox was flooded with notes of appreciation and we couldn’t be happier that our planning proved to make our very deserving teachers and staff happy!

From the Hospitality Committee:

On behalf of Bedminster’s Hospitality Committee, We would like to thank you all for volunteering for the Teacher’s Appreciation Luncheon. Through your support and generous donations, the luncheon was a huge success! Volunteers play an integral role in ensuring that we keep our cost down and the time, talent and efforts were very much needed and appreciated. The overwhelming gratitude that we received from the teachers was amazing.

Box Tops

The PTG will be holding the final Box Tops collection for the 2015-16 school year. So far this year our school has earned more that $2500.00! Please return all completed Box Tops forms to school by Friday, June 3rd. Be sure to hand in any Box Tops that will be expiring before our collection in the Fall. Keep collecting Box Tops through the Summer and look for more information on the Fall collection at the start of the school year.

Labels for Education

The Labels for Education program will be coming to an end at the closure of the 2015-16 school year. Now is your last chance to redeem any points from the labels that you have collected. Please return all clipped labels (including the UPC) in a plastic baggie labeled with the name of your child's grade and teacher. Thank you!
