May 3, 2023 - NEWSLETTER
Del Escritorio de la Directora
Estimadas familias de Woodcrest,
Happy May! It’s hard to believe we are already in the last six weeks of school for this academic year.
We have lots of great activities planned for the rest of the year. Next week, we will have our Celebration of Learning on Friday, May 12, 5-7 p.m. Please stop by to see your child’s work and have some fun at the carnival hosted by our PTO!
Also on May 12, our 4th graders will venture over to the high school for a districtwide track and field day. They will join with 4th graders from the other elementary schools in Spring Lake Park Schools. Fun!
In the coming weeks, please keep an eye on communication coming from your child’s classroom in addition to this newsletter as teachers announce different activities. Two to watch for: a performance from CLIMB theater coming at the end of May and our track & field day for all students at Woodcrest in June.
Just another quick reminder that there is no school for students this Friday, May 5. It is a professional learning and communication day for staff.
In partnership,
Jaime Nymann
Principal

Staff appreciation shout outs
During the month of May, we are celebrating the amazing staff in our school buildings. If you have a staff shout out, story or memory you'd like to share to help us celebrate, please email the Communication Department.
From house to home: Do you have a lot connection?
The house in our high school parking lot is almost complete as a home. Students have made amazing progress this year and are learning so much each day as they gain some incredible experiences.
Our hope is this house becomes a home in our community. If you have a connection to people or organizations who have a lot for this home, please contact Eric Van Brocklin.
Class of 2023 Senior Spotlight
It's time to shine a light on members of the Class of 2023.
These students have been an invaluable part of our Panther community and we're cheering them on as they pursue further education, a career or trade, take a role with the military or do something else altogether. They’ve made us proud in so many ways and we know they will go on to do great things.
Read about some of their future plans, favorite experiences, accomplishments and what makes them Panther Proud!

Only 10 days until our Celebration of Learning Carnival!
Step Right Up and Volunteer Friday, May 12 at our Celebration of Learning Carnival! Short 35-min shifts give you lots of time to enjoy the rest of the night! We have listed some opportunities here-but would love it if anyone has balloon twisting, juggling, magic tricks, or unicycling they could also show off outside during our carnival.
Other fun at the Celebration of Learning includes student work displays, food trucks and from 5:30-6:30 p.m. basic Latin dance instruction along with a little history of the origins of each dance.
Staff Appreciation Week is next week!
If you would like to sign up to bring items and/or see all the ways you can help celebrate our staff, check out the different options on Konstella
Mileage Club is up and running - literally!
We need volunteers to join us on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to cheer students as they run/walk during recess. Parent volunteers also help students scan cards to track miles and hand out prizes (on Fridays). If you would like to sign up to help, click here to see recess times and available opportunities.
Summer Reading Initiative!
The Woodcrest Spanish Immersion PTO is sponsoring a Summer Reading Initiative for our students here at Woodcrest Spanish Immersion. The goal of this initiative is to promote equity across Woodcrest by allowing every student in the school to "purchase" books at a Book Fair.
If you are interested in helping us achieve this goal, consider making a tax deductible donation to this great cause!
