Mindy and Jonathan are back and well-rested after their summer break. This week they are joined by Lynn Kleinmeyer and they are talking teacher productivity. How do you get things done in your classroom, and what are your strategies for dealing with email, calendar, and to-do lists. They don't have all the answers, but they do have some! :)

Interactive Posters -- Season 5: Episode 1
This challenge focuses on students creating interactive posters for their school to help educate other students about PBIS expectations. The students used Makey Makeys to help their posters come alive! In this episode, we feature the student council group from Tiffin Elementary.

Making Connections with Hummingbird Bit
Activate your critical thinking and creativity skills through the use of the Hummingbird Bit Robotics Kit in this hands-on workshop. The 1-day free workshop is designed for educators that currently have a Hummingbird Bit Robotics Kit and are looking to gain a deeper understanding of this tool and integration ideas in their classroom or library. In this workshop, you will be making, building and coding. Throughout the day, you will learn the basic components of the kit, how to create and build with the tools and cardboard to create and code simple prototypes. You’ll leave inspired by examples of this in action.
Attention Making STEM Connections Scale-up recipients: Kristine Bullock, the SE STEM Hub manager, will cover substitute teacher fees and provide the Hummingbird Duo MakeCode Upgrade Bundle for those teachers that were awarded the Making STEM Connections Scale-up and selected the Hummingbird Duo. Participants will be asked to complete a survey after registering for the workshop to receive sub reimbursement and must be part of the SE STEM Region. Creative Challenge Teacher Cohort
For creative newbies: Start with the Creative Challenges Teacher Cohort - a great way to collaboratively learn and work with like-minded colleagues.
The course time will incorporate face-to-face & online meetings that will occur on an almost monthly basis
- 6 two hour face-to-face meetings, scheduled after school hours throughout the year
- 1 online meetings
- online work through Canvas including implementation plans & reflections
- You can earn 1 graduate credit or 1 renewal credit with successful course completion

Designing Connections with Makey Makey
Take the next step with this 1 license renewal credit course! It is designed to take you to the next level with your Makey Makey. In this hands-on workshop course, you will be creating and exploring how your students can use Makey Makey to amplify creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and communication skills. As a participant, you will engage in prototyping, coding, and developing integration ideas through face-to-face and online learning.
This course includes 1 face-to-face full day, 1 hour online meet-up, and 1 evening workshop.
The only cost of the workshop is a $20 fee which will cover the cost of a Makey Makey (retails for $50) that you can take home with you. Additional cost for recertification credit.

Reimagining Digital Learning & Leading
This course will begin to explore the role of school professionals as digital learners and leaders in their schools. Participants will become familiar with the ISTE Standards which support educators to "deepen practice, promote collaboration with peers, [and] challenge [educators] to rethink traditional approaches and prepare students to drive their own learning" (ISTE).

Grant Wood AEA presents VISIBLE LEARNING plus featuring Professor John Hattie and Peter DeWitt

During the Visible Learningplus Foundation Day Institute with John Hattie and Peter DeWitt, participants will identify and discuss:
- the most important messages from the Visible Learning research
- learn about the five strands of Visible Learning, and
- know the difference between the influences that ‘do’ and ‘do not’ make a significant difference to student achievement.

First Iowa High School Tech Summit!
The Technology Association of Iowa (TAI) is hosting the first Iowa High School Tech Summit this September 30th. Three IT professionals will give fun and engaging presentations designed to challenge stereotypes, demystify the industry, and inspire the next generation of Iowa's high-tech workforce. There will be a DJ, interactive activities, free lunch, and swag bags for students!
The summit will be live-streamed and is open to all Iowa high school students.

This year the ITEC fall conference is celebrating 50 years of tech and learning in the state of Iowa! The conference is just over a month away and ITEC is pleased to welcome:
Jennie Magiera and Joe Sanfelippo. Jennie is the Chief Program Officer for EdTechTeam, working on diversity and equity in education initiatives and the author of Courageous Edventures . Joe is the Superintendent of the Fall Creek School District in Fall Creek, WI. The Fall Creek School District was named an Innovative District in 2016 and 2017 by the International Center for Leadership in Education and the author of Hacking Leadership: 10 Ways Great Leaders Inspire Learning That Teachers, Students, and Parents Love.
