Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! We hope your students are having a great first week back at school. Here are some reminders for the upcoming days:

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

Thursday, Aug. 15th, 6:30pm

Roswell High School, CAFETERIA

LOCATION CHANGE! We are unable to secure enough seating for the Band Room, so we will hold the meeting in the Roswell High School cafeteria.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORMS

This week all students received a syllabus with forms for you to sign. Students/parents should sign the form and turn it in no later than Friday, August 16th. There is a:

· ½ page syllabus acknowledgement form under the “Important Dates”

· 2019 Intent and Commitment form

· Band Handbook Acknowledgement


Staple them together and place forms in the gray tubs located in the band hallway. Extra copies can be found directly outside of Mr. Moon’s office if you need one.

PAST DUE ITEMS

· UNIFORM FITTINGS

By Friday, August 16th all Marching Band students should have been fitted for a uniform. If your student still hasn’t completed this, please contact Melissa Smith (lls4mtm@me.com) immediately.

· Percussion Supplement Fees

BAND PICTURES (Marching Band)

On Monday, August 19th we will be taking a group photograph of the entire band. We need everyone there! Students will come to the Band Room to change at 4:00 PM. Maura Roberts will then take the picture at the stadium. Please fill out the form below to indicate if you are interested in ordering individual and/or sectional photos in addition to the group image.

Mini Band Camp (Mandatory for all Marching Band members)

We will hold our mini band camp on Friday evening 8/23 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and again Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. All marching band members are required to attend. Parents: please be aware that practice BEGINS on the field at 5:00 pm. Allow your child enough time to get their instrument and walk to the practice field.

· Wear practice clothes both days

· Bring sunscreen and water

· Meals:

o Friday evening – eat dinner beforehand

o Saturday afternoon – we will have an hour break for lunch (you can bring your own or go buy lunch)

Excused Absences

If you are missing the Mini Band Camp (or any rehearsal) you must complete an Excused Absence Form electronically and submit to Mr. Moon BEFORE the date. Please be aware that even though a form has been submitted, it does not mean the absence has been approved. Mr. Moon will contact you directly to let you know.

CLASSROOM BAND FEES – DUE BY SEPTEMBER 9TH

In order to provide proper opportunities and instruction for all band classes, we charge a $250 fee to pay for music, materials, musicians, transportation to events, minor instrument repairs, etc. (Please note $10 of your fee goes to the high school.) If you need assistance with paying Classroom Band Fees, please contact Mr. Moon for options.

MARCHING BAND SHOW SHIRTS

Each student will receive a “show shirt” to be worn under their uniform during football games. This is included in your band fees. (This is a t-shirt specially designed to commemorate this season’s theme.)

Note: The SHOW SHIRT is different from our PERFORMANCE SHIRT which is Under Armor attire worn during performances instead of our regular uniform. If you would like to order an extra shirt for your student or a parent, fill out the form below.
