College and Career Newsletter
Visalia Unified/May 2021
The end of the school year is quickly approaching. This year has been like no other year that we have witnessed. It has reinforced the knowledge that those that support and encourage us on our journey are essential to our ability to thrive. Our students have relied on teachers, peers, and family in the new world of online learning. Teachers have exhausted themselves to provide the best education to their students as possible, relying on their peers, tech services, and principals to help keep their heads above water. Whether it is in times of a pandemic or just the daily ins and outs, our support network allows us to achieve our goals.
With this in mind, the College and Career Department would like to take a moment to thank our director, Dr. Jamon Peariso, for his outstanding support and encouragement. It is rare to find a leader who demonstrates integrity, self-awareness, and genuine respect for all those he comes in contact with. Jamon has cultivated an atmosphere that has allowed us to stretch outside the box and create unique experiences for our students. Dr. Peariso and his family will be leaving us to relocate to Colorado at the end of the school year. We are truly sad to see him go and wish him, and his family, nothing but the best in the future.
Best wishes,
Paige Loverin, MA, PPS

MAPS Day
Each year our sixth-graders visit COS for an amazing day of hands-on experiences and discovery. This partnership with COS gives students insight into majors, degrees, certificate programs, and their careers. This year, because of COVID restrictions, Maps Day is going virtual for our teachers to showcase in their classrooms. Click here to view the video of this year's virtual visit to COS.
On top of that, we would like to congratulate this year's recipients of The Dan and Rose Bueno Scholarship. The scholarships are normally awarded during MAPS Day. The recipients were chosen based on the following attributes:
