National Poetry Month @ T.H.E.
Did you have a Poem in Your Pocket?
April is National Poetry Month
All month long Tilden Hogge Elementary School students in Morehead, KY celebrated National Poetry Month. Student wrote personal poems, acrostics, spine poems, shared poems that they had written, read written by their favorite poets and even share their poems on our daily news show.
The students also took advantage of a sunny spring day to create sidewalk poetry giving new meaning to the words CONCRETE poetry!

Poem in Pocket Day - April 24, 2014
Could not wait to share!
This group of boys from Mr. Bushes 5th grade class searched through a stack of poetry to find their favorite poem. By the time library class was over each had a brand new poem for their pocket. As soon as they returned to class they just had to share the laughs with Mr. Bush!
Mrs. Withrow's class loved sharing their poems with me and with each other!
Students were pulling poems from pockets, desks, out of notebooks, and backpacks as I entered the room. They were so happy to share their new found poem or their original creation.
News time was Poetry Sharing Time!
Poems are meant to be Shared
Each morning the news crew shared a poem and students share either their favorite poem or a poem they had written.
Mrs. Graham's class shared their spine poems
Book Spine Poems
Mrs. Graham's class was so inspired by Poetry Month they decided to write even more poetry. The last two weeks of school they were creating these wonderful Spine Poems. Check out the bulletin board and sample poems below. Thank you all for making our Poetry Month last for TWO months!
