Brownie Investiture

Our girls made their Promise and dedicated themselves to a year of Girl Scouting! Please continue to review the Promise and Law with them, and remember to have them do a chore to earn their $1 dues.

The Brownie Sash

Girls will continue to earn fun patches, journey badges, and Girl Scout Legacy badges. The journey (keys) and Legacy patches should be ironed to the front of the sash, while any fun patches should be sewed or ironed onto the back. Please view the photo to the side, or you can also google the Brownie sash so you see more closely where the patches go.

Taking Action & Making the World a Better Place

At our next meeting, the Brownies are moving forward with the Take Action Project to make an impact in the community and earn their third key. We will be planning our service projects. This is the final part of our "Quest" journey. The girls voted to do a beach clean-up, and they are also interested in donating items to children.

Meeting Agenda:

  • Promise & Law
  • Plan our Take Action Project - Beach Clean-Up
  • Decide on Donating to the Needy project
  • Snack
  • Journey lesson
  • Talk about our Love of Water "fun" field trip--ICE SKATING

Deliver Candies & Nuts!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the QSP Fall Product Program! We made a small profit to go towards our troop expenditures. If your Brownie sold nuts and candies that need to be delivered to her customers, products must be picked up starting this Sunday, November 16th at the home of Mary Alice. Please plan to turn in any remaining money no later than the December 11th troop meeting. Contact Mary Alice if you have any questions.

Davis Islands Beach Cleanup Sunday, November 16th 1pm

The girls voted on their service project to earn their final Brownie Key Badge! The girls will do a beach cleanup to take action in the community. We will meet at Sea Plane Basin Park at the south end of Davis Island. The girls will learn about what litter does to water quality and marine life, go on a scavenger hunt for litter, and hand out litter bags. Please make sure you child has lunch prior to the trip. Afterwards, the girl will celebrate their efforts with some ice-cream at Ferrel's on the Island. We will meet at this restaurant located at the shops on Davis Islands. The troop funds will cover the cost of ice-cream.

Ice Skating Field Trip Friday, Nov. 21st

Love of Water is part of our WOW Journey!

This is a surprise for the girls! They voted on an ice skating field trip last year. We couldn't fit it in last year, but it goes along with our water journey this year and will be lots of fun. Join us at Tampa's Downtown on Ice to let the girls love water through the joy of ice skating! They have earned the money to pay for this through the cookie fundraiser last year! Now, they can connect what all their hard work will go towards!

When: Friday, November 21st

Where: Curtis Hixon Park, Downtown Ice skating rink

Time: 5pm

Instructions: Arrive early to reserve your Brownie's skates. Or, let us know her size and we will set aside a pair for her to use when she arrives.

Brownies Donate to Needy Children

Operation Christmas Child: The girls expressed an interest in donating items to needy children. A small shoebox can have a big impact. What goes into the box is fun, but what comes out of it is eternal. Brownies can be a part of changing children's lives all over the world through the power of a simple gift with Operation Christmas Child. At our next meeting, girls will plan how to use their troop funds to go towards the purchase of items to fill shoe boxes to donate to needy children around the world. We will either fit this in during our meeting, or we may try to include it after the beach clean-up.
