Nutrition Services
Information on Free/Reduced meal benefits
Even though all students will receive free meals, we encourage all families, regardless of income to complete an Application for Educational Benefits*. A new application must be submitted each year. Approved applications provide compensatory income from the Minnesota Department of Education. These funds are used to provide needed services and resources that benefit all students.
*Children in households participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), and foster, homeless, migrant, and runaway children are automatically eligible without reporting household income.
In addition, families with approved applications may also qualify for free district issued hot-spots and free or reduced athletic or activity fees within the district. There are also many opportunities within the community and neighboring cities to take advantage of free or reduced entrance fees or tickets with an approved application. Please help the district reach our goal of 100% completed forms.
You can apply for these benefits online in the Parent Portal. A blank application can also be found under Nutrition Services on our website - Nutrition Services Website link. To request a blank application by mail, email kirsten.cowles@monticello.k12.mn.us or call 763-272-2044. Return completed application for Educational Benefits form to:

Hoglund Transportation Notice
Updating Your Student's Information!
Dear Monticello District Families,
We are in the preparation stages for the 2021-2022 school year and need to get updated information for your child (including walkers and other non-bus riders).
Our routing system and the school's data do not communicate with each other at this time. This means that, even if you change your address or any other information that we need to transport your student(s) with the school district, we cannot view any of those changes made with the school.
Please let us know as soon as possible if your family needs to make changes. Possible changes families may make are things like switching daycares, discontinuing/starting daycare, or moving to a new home. To make these changes, click the link below or go to our website at www.hoglundtransportation.com, click on the STUDENTS tab then go to the PERMANENT CHANGES link and fill out the form there. If you need any further guidance, please call us at 763-295-3604. We are more than happy to help! Changes cannot be made through the parent portal.
Transportation Registration closes August 22nd, changes WILL NOT be made after that day! Registration will open back up on Monday, September 13th and changes will be made in the order that they were received. This allows the drivers to become familiar with their routes and also ensures that the schedule does not change for the families that have already made changes or do not need to make changes for the upcoming year. One student can alter an entire route. Again, it is critical that you make changes BEFORE AUGUST 22ND to start by the first day of school.
Final bussing information should be available on August 25th in the parent portal.
Compliance is an Obligation; Excellence is a Choice
ATTENDANCE LINE - 763-272-2110
Please use “763-272-2110” to call in late or absent students. Please call the attendance line or send a note if your student needs to leave early. Prior notice expedites the process, avoids interruptions into classrooms to have students dismissed, and eliminates difficulty reaching students during Phy-ed, music, lunch, and special events. You may also use the attendance line to request homework if students are gone two or more consecutive days.
Thank you!
Picture Day
All students should have their photos taken to get a student ID.
Photo Use Authorization
If you DO NOT WANT your child's photo/video/podcast used, please contact Chris at chris.schyma@monticello.k12.mn.us
