November 29th - December 3rd
A Message from the Principal
Hobby Family,
We had an amazing week with our International Night and our
Electives fair for incoming 6th grade students.
I want to personally thank our amazing PTA for all the support, please consider joining the PTA. Because without them a lot of the extra fun things would not be possible.
Have a Happy and blessed Thanksgiving, and take some time for yourself and family!
PS Thanksgiving Break Nov. 22 - Nov. 26. (No school)

Attention all 8th grade Spanish 2 students!
Free College Credits?!? Yes, please!!
The window has now opened for students to apply for Dual Credit for the 22-23 school year. It is a multi-step process to apply with strict deadlines. Please follow the packet to ensure that you fill things out correctly and on time. All information you need can be found on the Clark Dual Credit Website including the classes we offer. (For incoming freshmen, the only option is Spanish 3). Step one is the Apply Texas application. It is due February 16th, but it is recommended that you complete it ahead of time in case there are any issues. Follow along with the step by step instructions to do the application. We will have an informational middle school parent meeting on Tuesday, January 18th at 6:00 in the Clark Library to discuss Dual Credit. Please visit the website to learn more about Dual Credit and find all of the tools you will need to ensure your student gets to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. If you have any questions, please email dlayne.kelly@nisd.net.
Today is Ms. Abell’s last day as a counselor at Hobby. She will now be a full time counselor at the Reddix Center. We will miss her!
When we return from Thanksgiving Break, Ms. Covington will join the Hobby family as a full time counselor. She has previous counseling experience in NISD and we feel that she will be a great asset to the Hobby community.
School Calendar Amended to Allow More Teacher Planning Time
At this week’s Board meeting, Trustees approved changes to the District’s 2021-2022 school calendar to give teachers more planning time.
These five Teacher Planning Time/Student Early Dismissal Days are Jan. 26, Feb. 16, March 23, April 20, and May 18.
Elementary schools will dismiss at 11:45 a.m., middle schools at 12:40 p.m., and high schools at 1 p.m. Breakfast and sack lunches will be provided on these days. For families who need it, adult supervision will be available at all elementary schools, so students can remain on campus until the end of the normal school day. Learning Tree will also be available at traditional times.
Contact Ms. Laurel at gilda.lauren@nisd.net if you'd like to attend.
