Imelda Shocked Us All...
Principal's Message
Imelda came and went! Thank you all for your patience and support on what was a shocking Thursday morning. I hope that you and your family made it though these past few days safe and dry. But, I know that is not the case for all. One of our teacher's home got flooded and another teacher's car got washed away. I know of a couple students whose home's were also flooded and I am sure we will learn of more come Monday. Please make us aware of any such conditions so we can best support those impacted through what will be a very stressful time in the months ahead.
If you did not receive the district's emergency text Thursday morning you are still needing to opt-in into the Conroe ISD's new emergency notification platforms. To receive SMS (text message) notifications on your mobile device, please text "Y" to 67587.
Thursday morning 21 teachers were able to get to school before the flood waters became severe. Also, that morning 3 buses had dropped off 15 students. We had teachers standing in the rain communicating with any families driving up to the school, we had teachers answering the phones, mopping wet floors, and just waiting with our students. Thank you teachers, bus drivers, custodial staff, and parents for getting everyone through that alarming morning and an unwanted extended weekend!
Last week our students voted for their Homecoming Duke and Duchess and Student Council Officers. The winners are listed below. With the interrupted week we were not able to get pictures but we will have them in next week's newsletter. Congratulations to; Homecoming Duke: Jamari Lyons and Duchess: Zulneris Diaz. Class of 2023 StuCo Officers: Alyssa Aldape, Delilah Brown, Yuliza Nunez, Samantha Estrada, Jax Stoehr, and Breniyah Maxey!
This past Wednesday Conroe ISD celebrated "Read for a Better Life" at every campus throughout the district. Our campus celebrated by extending our "Reading Matters Monday" readings as well as our English team conducting book talks and special activities to celebrate readings impact on our lives. I have included a few pictures of these activities and celebrations below.
Due to the loss of last Thursday and Friday, as days of instruction, we are extending the 2nd three week grading period through Tuesday, September 24, 2019. Students who are failing will become ineligible at the end of the school day on Tuesday, October 1st. Please keep up to date with your child's academic progress through "parent access". Ans as always encourage your student to attend tutorials when needed. Our tutorial link can be found below in our newsletter.
November's Bond election will have a major impact on our district's families and students. I have attached a video explaining the bond below. Click the link to educate yourself on more details. Please share this information will all of your voting family, neighbors, and friends.
This Monday at 6:00 PM the CHS9 admin/ counselor teams will be hosting a parent information night to take place in the Conroe High Auditorium. I personally want to invite you all to attend. We hope to see you there!
It is my honor being your child's 9th Grade principal! If you ever have any questions or concerns please always feel free to reach out to me.
