Last week in science it was on to DNA and DNA replication. We started with some notes and awesome discussions. We took a look at how DNA replicates and created a model of DNA with some licorice and marshmallows! Mrs. Kottkey was the guest teacher on Friday and she talked about the meaning of GRIT and why it is so important in life. Everyone gave examples of how they show grit (bravery and resolve) and as a class, we read a story of a student from Washington State who dropped out of high school, but at 29 years old overcame many obstacles and was accepted into the medical program at the University of Washington! It took GRIT and having a GOAL for him to find his way. We will be talking more about GRIT and DETERMINATION this quarter in science class.
AGAIN....If the kids use their class time wisely this week, there should not be much homework. I would appreciate it if parents would take a look through and discuss the last 6-7 pages (up through pg 69) of their INBs with their kids. .
Reminder: the planner, text book pages, instructional videos, handouts, and copies of the notes can also be found on my website.
How to study:
1. Teach someone else the concepts
2. Go through the textbook paragraph by paragraph with sticky notes
3. Look at the questions in the text book (at the end of each section and chapter)
4. Repetition of your Cornell notes
5. Re-watch the instructional videos
6. Explore more videos that pertain to the concepts
7. Make a practice test for study-buddy
8. Flash Cards
9. Create Mnemonic devices
