What is Dyslexia?

One of our primary objectives in elementary school is teaching students to read. Unfortunately, it can be hard sometimes. Stefanie Jordan just shared this video on Dyslexia, and I wanted to pass it along. It does a nice job of summarizing something we talk about often.

Parent Survey

Our Parent Survey is coming up at the end of this week. We will open the survey to parents this Saturday. Students will bring in receipts from the survey and can turn them into the office to be part of the daily raffle. The survey will be open from April 9 to April 22, and we will have raffles at the end of each day. At the end of the survey, we will have a special recess on Thursday, April 28.

Step Up to First Grade

We are trying to put together a "Step Up to First Grade" class for the summer. The class will take place three days each week for three hours each day. It will be four weeks in the month of July. If you are interested in teaching all or part of this class, please let me know.

GATE Coding Club

This spring we are offering a new enrichment opportunity for our GATE students. We have received a grant from the Sonoma Valley Educational Foundation to purchase Sphero SPRK Robotics kits. All GATE students will be invited to attend a morning workshop twice a week from 7:30 to 8:10 in the morning for four weeks. This opportunity will only be offered to 24 students on a first come basis. I will be leading this workshop with the help of our lab coordinator, Mr. Tedsen. The workshop will begin on the week of April 18.
