Every Leopard, Every Day!

Superintendent Advisory Committee

On Tuesday, the Superintendent Advisory Committee met for the second time this year. These student representatives, from all grade levels at GHS, discussed topics in the district and those that directly impact GHS students. The students drive the conversation and there is no given agenda. This group of young men and women are setting a positive example as young leaders. At the meeting, they created a service project to help make a difference for their school and will be organizing a toy drive at the high school. All the toys will be delivered by the students to Head Start, PK, and Kindergarten students.

Gifted & Talented Referrals

GISD is now accepting referrals for students who may need Gifted/Talented

Services for the school year. This program is designed for students who exhibit intellectual

and creative thinking abilities at an extraordinary level not normally served in the regular

classroom. Services are provided only upon identification of education needs of the student.

Anyone wishing to refer a student attending Gainesville ISD in kindergarten through 12th

grade this school year is asked to go by the student’s campus office and request a copy of

the referral form. This form must be returned to the school by November 30. Those unable

to go by the school should call 940.665.4362 to request a form be sent to them.

GT Parent Coffee Talk

Ms. Dosher held the first GT parent coffee talk on Wednesday. This was an opportunity for current GT parents, in addition to those wanting to know more about the program, to come together and discuss the needs of their students, including how to manage the social/emotional needs of gifted students. Dosher gave an update on the GT program and was able to answer questions about the nomination process. Parents gave feedback on topics for the next meeting, which will be a brown bag lunch on December 11.

Congratulations on an 8-3 season!
