Whiteley Wildcat Update
April 26, 2020
We are heading into another week of Distance Learning! The teachers continue to amaze me with the activities they are providing and their feedback to students. I was able to join a class for one of their Google Meets sessions and I have to admit, I was overwhelmed with joy! It was so great to see the students and to hear them share. Thank you for being partners with us as we maneuver through a very different time in education.
PTA
We are very fortunate to have many parents volunteering to continue some of our PTA programs. Below is information from one of our parents, Gina Luby, and we have attached information in regards to the Read To Succeed Program.
I just wanted to share the latest update that I received from Six Flags Great America, as the program’s coordinator for our school, regarding the Read to Succeed Program. They have extended the deadline to May 4th and they will issue tickets online (with a code) once a date is decided for the park to open. Please see the information below. I hope all of your families are staying healthy and safe during this unprecedented time
.STAFF TRIBUTES
The one-five Foundation will be doing staff tributes again this year. Honor a teacher or staff member this Teacher Appreciation Day (May 5, 2020) through a donation in his or her name to the one-five Foundation!
Donate $10 in a staff member's name and he or she will receive a personalized card in the mail the week of May 4. The deadline for this opportunity is May 1st.
Your donation will help fund the one-five Foundation's efforts to enhance the District 15 classroom experience through teacher grants, Lego Robotics and other Foundation-supported initiatives.

END OF YEAR ITEMS
As we enter the last week of April the staff at Whiteley will work together on our procedures for the end of the school year. Classroom teachers will soon be sending out a google form in regards to supplies and student personal items. Please take a moment to complete the form.
Many families have books from our school library. Starting on Monday we will have a bin outside our school at the main entrance for parents to drop off books. Please follow safe social-distancing practices when dropping off the books. The bins will be outside the main entrance Monday through Thursday starting at 8:30-2:00. We appreciate families returning these materials as it will allow us to continue providing reading materials for students next year.
