Boys Basketball

On Friday, 12/18, the Cards traveled to Faucett for their KCI Conference opener against Mid Buchanan. The boys were able to come out with a hard-fought 57-51 win over the Dragons. On Monday, 12/21, the Freshmen boys hosted Grain Valley. The boys battled but came up short, losing 43-58.


Since the game vs. Kirksville was lost due to inclement weather at the Holiday Classic the Cards had to wait until after the new year to take on the Chillicothe Hornets. On Monday, 1/4, the boys traveled to Chillicothe for three games against the Hornets. Varsity picked up another big road win, beating the Hornets by a score of 40-33. Freshmen also won, 43-20. JV lost 20-56.


On Thursday the 9th boys and JV boys hosted East Buchanan. The freshmen lost 48-34 and JV fell 38-37. The varsity fell to East Buchanan in Gower the following night in over time by a score of 56-54.


The Cardinals bounced back with a big win over Carrollton in the first round of the Lawson Invitational beating Carrollton 60-33. The Cards will play Richmond in the semi-finals Thursday at 9 PM.

Girls Basketball

On Friday, 12/18, the Lady Cards went to Faucett to take on a tough Mid Buchanan team. The girls battled hard but came up a little short, losing 48-54 to the Lady Dragons. On Monday, 12/21, the girls hosted Excelsior Springs. Varsity used a big run to pull away late, beating the Lady Tigers 41-25. JV also got a win over Excelsior and Freshmen beat Grain Valley.


The JV girls traveled to Gower on Friday 18/16 and won 30-13. The varsity Lady Cardinals fell 43-53.


The Lady Cardinals bounced back with a 45-40 win in the first round of the Lawson Invitational by defeating Gallatin. The girls will play the Richmond Lady Spartans in the semi-finals on Thursday, at 7:30 pm.

Wrestling

On Friday and Saturday, 12/18-12/19, the wrestlers competed in the Battle of Lexington. The boys had two solid days of competition, getting 4th overall as a team out of about 37 schools from around the area and many receiving individual medals. Top 10 finishes are posted below:

120- Tyler Hachman 2nd place

132- Logan Dietz 6th place

145- Colton Williams 8th place

160- Corbin Menke 1st place

182- Austin Nye 3rd place

195- Adrean Eskew 2nd place

285- Lucas Swoboda 4th place


On 1/9 the JV Wrestlers competed in the Kearney JV Tournament. Some results were:

126 Harmon Garrett 2nd

132 Collin O'Dell 2nd


The varsity wrestlers competed in the very challenging Excelsior Springs Tournament. Some results were:

On 1/12 Lawson hosted Stanberry and Hamilton for a triangular meet. Results were: Lawson 57 Hamilton 15; Lawson 69 Stanberry 9.


Lawson hosts Mid-Buchanan and South Harrison tonight at 5:30 PM in the Lawson Middle School Gym. The varsity will travel to the Plattsburg Invitational on Saturday, 1/16.


Senior Night for wrestling will be Tuesday, 1/19 versus Plattsburg and Savannah at 5:30 PM NOW in the HIGH SCHOOL gym.
