Infant Baptism

A promise with God

How to connect

God's doors are always open, no matter how old or young you are. It's never to late to make that special connection with the Christian religion.

Baptism

Infant baptism is when a baby is christened and the parents decide that the child shall live it's life as a Christian. Holy water (from the font in the church) is poured over the baby's head and the priest says a prayer for the child. The parents and godparents make a promise to bring the child to church every week and bring it up in the footsteps of Jesus.

The baby wears white clothes for purity.

A passage from the Bible is read which underlines the importance of baptism.

After the baby has been baptised, a candle is handed to the parents to symbolise the child moving from darkness to light.
