The Manning Weekly Update
May 6th, 2022
Manning Community,
Here's a list of the activities we are thinking of for the 8th grade picnic/celebration:
Dance Competition
Yard Games (Cornhole competition plus other yard games like ladders)
Water Balloon Toss
Two Legged Race
Badminton
Ultimate Frisbee
Sand Volleyball
Kickball
Basketball
Four Square
We will have some staff supervision, as well as our PTA members at the 8th grade celebration, but would also love for some parents to help that morning as well.
We have a couple cornhole sets, but it would be great if parents would drop off some cornhole sets the morning of the picnic and any other yard games, like ladders, etc. That way we can increase the amount of students playing cornhole at any one time. We promise to take good care of them.
We are excited to celebrate our 8th grade class! If you are willing to chaperone the event, donate yard games, or have a good idea for another activity and would be willing to run that activity, please email me at Christian.Ramaker@jeffco.k12.co.us
We are on the home stretch! As always have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the beautiful weather.
Best,
Christian Ramaker

Information on Honors Courses
Dear Manning Families,
Exciting news for all our students/families here at Manning, that will continue to align with our Vision of Rigorous academic, High behavioral expectations for students, Strong partnerships with families and community. Our Leadership team and conversations with our academic departments led us to designate all core content classes at the honors level for next year. We looked at what we were teaching in our Honors vs General education classes and realized as a team that the instruction and standards in all classes aligned with the Honors level coursework. This not only aligns with our Vision of rigorous academics, but it will also improve instructional practices for the grade-level teachers to plan and align strong rigorous lesson plans and content for our students' academic growth.
Rigor does not mean more work. Rigor means we are encouraging students to think critically, creatively, and more flexibly. Along with classrooms that are stimulating, engaging, and supportive.
Math will still be placed upon your student's current level of foundational skills and knowledge.
There will be additional intervention classes in ELA and Math for those who may need some additional academic support.
Respectfully,
Danelle Yocum
