Happy Fall Season!
Jenison High School Families
It has been a great start to the 2023/2024 school year! Jenison High School was once again awarded the designation of "Best High Schools - 2023" according to US News & World Report. This award made possible by the continued support from our community, our amazing student body, and a staff that goes above and beyond every single day.
Shout out to the JHS Student Council for organizing another amazing Wildcat Festival. Thank you to all the families that came out in support of JPS, and enjoyed some great food, fun activities, and quality time as a community.
Homecoming is this week. This week long celebration includes dress up days and activities for students during the week culminating with a spirit assembly on Friday, community parade, football game, and a formal dance on Saturday night (9/16).
Come out and show your Wildcat pride!

Attendance/Appointment Call-In Process
Help us minimize classroom disruption during instructional time
Regular attendance is crucial to success in school. Parents, if your student misses school, please be sure to call our attendance line (616-457-3400, option 1) to excuse the absence prior to the start of the school day. If your student has an appointment during the school day and needs to be dismissed from classes, please call the office before the start of the school day and leave this information on the attendance line. By following this process, it will avoid disruption of staff calling into classrooms during instructional time for students to come to the office to sign out. Calling in prior to the start of the school day, the attendance office can provide your student with a pass to leave at the requested time. We greatly appreciate your help with this process.
Reminder: New Feature - Submit attendance through PowerSchool
MHSCA Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year! - Coach Stumpf
The Michigan High School Coaches Association has chosen Coach Stumpf for their 2023 award. Mr. Stumpf is a champion for kids both in the pool and in the classroom. Congratulations!

Senior Pictures for Yearbook
The deadline to submit senior photos for the yearbook is March 1.
Here are the requirements and the process for submitting a photo:
- Photos must be in .jpg format and sent as an attachment.
- All photos must be vertical.
- The photo can be full body or head and shoulder.
- The photos can be in color or black and white.
- Photos should be emailed to Mr. George at jgeorge@jpsonline.org. Please put the name of the student in the subject line.
- Please Note: screenshots or cell-phone pictures of the senior photo will not be high-quality enough to include in the yearbook. Please submit the original photo.
- Seniors & senior parents will be notified if a photo does not meet requirements. A replacement photo must be submitted within a limited time frame or your school ID photo will be used.
- We will reply to all submissions as we receive them. You can expect a confirmation email after you submit a photo and it is placed in the yearbook.
Our page designers are excited to continue the tradition of featuring senior baby photos in this year’s yearbook. Senior baby photos are due on March 1 as well. This is optional, but many participate. Baby photos should also be sent to Mr. George at jgeorge@jpsonline.org - the baby picture is considered anything up to age 4ish. Pretty flexible. Taking a picture of the picture with your phone is one option if you do not have a scanner.
Counselors Corner
College applications are open! Seniors who are considering college should be working on their applications and should see their JHS counselors with questions.
College rep visit and college open house sign ups can be found in the Counseling Google Classroom.
Youth Assessment Survey
Our school district will be participating in the 2023 Ottawa County Youth Assessment Survey (YAS) during the month of October 2023. The purpose of the survey is to collect countywide
data about the attitudes, health needs, and risk behaviors of Ottawa County youth. Consistent,
reliable, and comparable data enables area agencies and school districts to identify priority
youth risk areas and to design, implement and evaluate programs targeting those areas.
Grades participating in the Yas: 8th, 10th, and 12th
The survey is anonymous and voluntary.
There will be no identifying information on the survey.
Your child’s grade does not depend on answering the questions.
Your child does not have to fill out any part of the questionnaire that makes them feel uncomfortable or that you think they should not answer.
Your child will benefit from this survey to the extent that we can identify those programs that have the greatest chance of preventing or reducing risk factors in the community.
For more information on the Ottawa County Youth Assessment Survey, please visit: this
website. You may also reference the following FAQ Document. As a district, we do not include
questions on reproductive health behaviors. If for any reason you do NOT want your student to participate in the survey, please click on the following link and the Google Form by Monday, October 16, 2023.
Youth Assessment Survey Opt-Out Form:
*The assessment is a collaborative effort of the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District
(OAISD), Ottawa County Department of Public Health (OCDPH), Arbor Circle, Lakeshore Regional Entity (LRE), and Greater Ottawa County United Way (GOCUW).
