For Teachers
What is Pinterest?
Pinterest is a free website that requires users to create an account. Users can upload, save, sort, and manage images—known as pins—and other media content through collections known as boards. You build boards in any category you want, then you can organize your boards in any way you prefer. This social media site is known for its logical design and easy to use format.
New to Pinning? Follow these tips!
- When you "pin" something, you are adding an image with a related link to a board.
- When you "repin" something, you are adding someone else's image to your board.
- If you want to find the source of the picture, click on the image of the pin.
- You can search for pins, boards, and people in the search bar.
How can teachers use Pinterst?
Teachers can use Pinterest in various ways to enhance their classroom and teaching by curating content, organize ideas, collaborate with other teachers, and allow students to use Pinterest. Boards can be organized into classroom themes or lesson ideas, such as Holiday Crafts or Classroom Organization. Students can upload their work onto a collaborative board to include students in the classroom's Pinterest or work on group projects with one another to combine ideas and interests. Teachers can also collaborate with one another by sharing ideas and "repinning" each others classroom ideas.
