Guided Reading Folders
Next week, we will begin Guided Reading in class!! Your child will be coming home with a Reading Folder. Inside the reading folder you will find a few things:
- Leveled Books. Your child needs to read these books every night. They can write a sentence about the book as well for an extension activity.
- A list of Sight Words your child needs to practice. They need to know all 26 sight words by the end of Kindergarten. Once they know all 26, they will get a list of 100 words they need to know by the end of 1st grade.
- Reading Strategies - Remind your kids of these strategies when they get stuck on a word
- Comprehension Questions: If your child is reading on a level 4 or higher, you may ask some Comprehension Questions to see if they are understanding the story. You can use these questions when they listen to YOU read them a story as well.
PLEASE RETURN THE FOLDER EVERY FRIDAY TO CLASS. YOUR CHILD WILL GET A NEW SET OF BOOKS IN THEIR FOLDER THE FOLLOWING MONDAY! :)

Listen To Reading
This week we started part 4 of our Daily 5 Langauge Arts Block - LISTEN TO READING. Student are using the iPods to listen to stories. Soon we will be using the iPods to scan QR codes that link us to stories on line. Students will also have the choice to listen to stories on the computers using the links from my website. Students are really excited about this choice.
Math - Shape Monsters
Students were several shapes and asked to make a monster. Then we talked about our monsters and how many of each shape they used.
